" Yahoo!" A child at about the age of eight years old cheered. You were the daughter of the greatest detective in the world. Yes, the one people knew as L, is your father. " (Y-Y/N)! You shouldn't be running around here!" Matsuda yelled, chasing after you. " But it's fun!" You yelled and continued to run. " S-Stop! You don't want to interrupt Ryuzaki's meeting, do you?!" You stopped dead in your tracks, and turned to Matsuda." Papa's in a meeting?" " Y-Yup! And we shouldn't bother him." Matsuda stated, catching his breath. " Come on, I'll take you to Watari so you can have lunch." He said and held out his hand. You took it, and walked to the kitchen with him. " Hey Watari! Could you make (Y/N) here some lunch?" Matsuda asked. " It's already been made." Watari said and smiled. " Thank you grandpa!" You had started calling Watari grandpa ever since you learned how to talk. Watari found it adorable when you would call him grandpa. " Eat up so you can play when your father is done with his meeting." He said and kissed your forehead. " Okay!" You said and started eating.
About half an hour later, you saw Light, the chief, and finally- " Papa!" You yelled and ran to L. He picked you up and kissed your cheek. " Hello sweetheart, did you eat lunch already?" You wrapped your arms around his neck, pulling you two closer together. " Yeah! But, grandpa said that I couldn't have any sweets until you finished your meeting." You explained to the blackette. " Oh, so you want some now?" He asked. " Yes please!" L smiled and asked Watari to bring him two slices of strawberry cake.
You sat on your father's lap as you both ate the cake. Just then, Light had walked in the room with Misa clinging to his arm. " Hey, Ryuza- Oh, your here too (Y/N)?" Light asked. You turned to the brunette, and immediately continued to eat your cake. You had never really trusted Light. L pulled you closer to him as if to protect you. You nodded at Light, and slightly waved at Misa. " Aww, hi (Y/N)!" She waved back. " Looks like we have two L's now! It also doesn't help that your daughter is an exact replica of you Ryuzaki!" Light said smiling. At this point, you and L had finished scarfing down your cake, and just continued listening to Light. " I'm surprised that your mother let's you have that many sweets!" That's when you felt your breath get caught in your throat. You looked back at Light with tears in your eyes. L then felt extremely uncomfortable. " Light, I'd appreciate if you'd drop the subject." L stated. Thoughts were racing in your mind. On how your mother had left you and your father for another man. On how she ripped a drawing you made her, right in front of your face. On how she told you she didn't love you.
You turned around and clutched onto L's shirt, sobbing into his chest. " Shh, it's okay sweetheart." L said and rubbed your back. " If you'll excuse me, we'll be back. Also, Light. Please don't bring that up again." L picked you up and headed to your room. " Don't worry, sweetheart. You're okay." He laid you on the bed and sat next to you. " P-Papa, w-will you promise n-not to leave me like m-mama did?" You were trying to calm yourself down as best as possible, but your breathing was still rapid. L looked at you and suddenly hugged you. " I promise okay. I won't leave you because I love you okay." L had a few stray tears running down his face. " Now, where's my (Y/N)'S smile?" He asked you. You giggled, still slightly crying, and smiled. " That's my girl. Come on, you wanna go hand cuff Light with me?" He said while holding your hand. " Yeah! Let's go!" You said and started running.
Your mother may not have loved you, and may not have been there for you, but you knew could always count on your father to be there to show you love and affection
