"Jadiir, come in here please."

Jay glanced up from the hand-held video game he had been messing around with- Carlos had fixed it for him, and all he'd had to trade was a few weeks of manual labor while the other teen worked on his repairing some damage done to his treehouse during one of his mother's rage fueled tantrums- to where his father was pushing past the hanging rug that separated the Junk Shoppe from the rest of their home. He turned off the game and slid off of the pile of fabric he had fashioned into a seat of sorts before moving to follow his father into their 'living room' (he didn't know how much living one could do with a battered old arm chair, a beat up television that only worked because Carlos had fixed it, his pile of rugs he used as a bed and the smallest kitchen in existence, but it was home he supposed) to give the man a look.

"What's up, dad?" Jafar moved to sink into his arm chair, gesturing for Jay to sit at his feet, and Jay complied as his curiosity got the better of him. It wasn't often his father wanted to sit down and have a talk- most of their conversations involved either the loot Jay brought home each night or requests being yelled at his back as he slipped out of the shop- and Jay couldn't help but wonder what Jafar suddenly found so important that they had to sit down to talk about it. Jafar rubbed his chin, watching Jay for a long moment before his eyes fell to the game Jay still held, an unreadable expression crossing his face before he cleared his throat. "It's come to my attention that you've been spending an awful lot of time with the deVil boy." Jay frowned as Jafar trailed off, wondering what his father was working his way towards as he watched the man struggle to word his next sentence.

"Yeah, we do a lot of barge runs and shit together, dad. You know that." It was true- Jay might have been Prince of Thieves on the Isle, but Carlos had a tendency of knowing what items were worth or used for, which was an almost invaluable skill when it came to deciphering the piles of junk that made their way across the strait from Auradon. Jafar let out a huff as he leant forward in his chair some, fixing his son with a look as he spoke, and Jay felt his stomach roll as he wondered if Jafar had figured out about his crush on the younger teen. He couldn't help it- Carlos was cute, yes, but also he was just an amazing person that Jay couldn't help but to fall for, even if he had no intention of letting the other boy know simply to be rejected by him. As far as he knew, Carlos had no interest in, well...anyone.

"The LeGume twins have reported seeing the two of you spending time outside of that together. Time that involves an awful lot of touching, Jadiir. Are you and that boy...together?" Jay stared at his father at the question, thrown off guard by the almost kind way Jafar had asked. He wasn't too surprised at the question itself- he was a pretty tactile person, and Carlos seemed to feel better when they were walking around the Isle with a heavy arm around his shoulder or a hand pressed to the small of his back. Little things that reminded the younger teen that he was there to protect him, he suspected, small touches that Carlos didn't get otherwise.

Jay didn't really mind giving them to him, to be honest.

"Would it be an issue if we were?" He spoke casually, trying to gauge his father's reaction as he crossed his arms over his chest and shifted back slightly from the chair. Jafar gave a thoughtful hum, his gaze moving from his son to travel around the small home, landing occasionally on an item Carlos had repaired or simply made for them.

"He's a useful boy. Smart, obedient, not unattractive. He's proven loyal as well; did he not stand with you against those sea brats last week?" Jay gave a nod, and Jafar continued. "That wasn't his fight but he still got involved. I suggest you keep a firm hold on the boy, actually- once he get's further into puberty, he's going to catch a lot of people's attention. Jasmine was the same way." Jay startled slightly at the mention of the Sultana, surprised to hear her name from his father when the man had refused to speak of the woman for years. A large part of him was entertained at the idea of Jafar comparing Carlos to Jasmine- so many people overlooked the younger teen, refusing to look past the quiet nerdy exterior to see the amazing person his friend was inside, and he was pleased that his father recognized the worth in having Carlos around instead of wanting Jay to break off their alliance. "I'd almost go far enough to say that I'm fairly fond of the boy, truthfully. He knows respect, unlike the little purple haired brat you bring around, and he's not as self-involved as the little princess. If you had to dally with one of them, I suppose you picked the superior option. Good work, Jadiir." Jay bristled slightly at the slight to both Mal and Evie, but remained silent as he realized that his father...supported his and Carlos imaginary relationship.
