"Dude, wait!" Carlos urged him as he chased the dog across Tourney's field.
They were practicing a few tricks, when suddenly, Dude fled. And so, since then, the white-haired teenager was chasing him all over Auradon Prep.
They passed through the locker room area, the athletics area and even the members of the FK dance committee who hung the flyers for the next event. And that's how they ended up running on Tourney's pitch.
He couldn't understand what made the dog run away in the first place!
Carlos felt the sweat running down his forehead and his heart pounding. Just when he thought Dude slowed down, the dog made a sharp right turn. Fortunately, Carlos turned around just in time to avoid tripping. Now they were approaching the school entrance.
The boy finally started to slow down once he reached the Statue of the Beast.
In the end ... Carlos thought, even slowing down. He looked around, but surprisingly, nobody was there. It was empty
At least nobody was there to see them. It would have been embarrassing if everyone knew that Carlos had just gone hunting for a wild dog ... In a way it reminded him of his mother ... He shivered at the thought.
Fortunately, it was just Carlos and Dude .... and--
"J-Jay?!" Carlos managed to suffocate.
He was still out of breath.
Jay smiled and leaned over to scratch Dude's head. "Good dog." he praised.
Carlos frowned. So something shiny in Jay's hand caught his attention. It was a whistle for the dogs. "What did you do it for ?!" he panted heavily.
Jay laughed. "How else should I have brought you here?"
"I don't know .... I think it's called TELEPHONE!" Carlos exasperated.
"I've never heard of it. Maybe one day I'll get you one ..." Jay smiled smugly. The younger teenager looked up, even smiling, as he thought about the phone that Jay had put in his pocket.
He remembered that day as if it were yesterday.
Almost a month had passed since then, the day of the Auradon Heritage Festival.
It all happened so fast! A minute they married in the wedding booth and a minute later they went out together! And soon after, Jay surprised him with a new phone.
Good times ... Carlos smiled to himself.
"Besides, it's more fun this way." Jay said, handing him a bottle of water. Carlos smiled as he received the bottle. It consumed him so quickly, making big puffs, that Jay had to make sure that her boyfriend didn't choke. The icy water cooled his throat making him feel much better.
"Thank you." Carlos exhaled, returning the bottle to Jay who handed him a towel.
He wiped the sweat from his face and put the towel behind his back. Then Jay handed him a helmet. "What is this used for?" Carlos asked curiously when Jay secured the helmet on his head.
"You'll see ..." Jay winked, wearing his. Carlos smiled.
Feeling that they were about to leave, he crouched down, patted Dude on the head and told him to return to campus. Afterward, Jay took his hand and led him down the school road until they stopped on a shiny new bike.
"Isn't this Ben?" Carlos asked.
"Yes, but I borrowed it ..." Jay replied.
"Borrowed?" the younger boy raised an eyebrow. "I didn't even think it was in your vocabulary," he snorted amused.
