"I look at you, and I just love you, and it terrifies me. It terrifies me what I would do for you."

Alec had forgotten how it felt to be without her, even if it was for such a little while. Maybe it was her smile, or her eyes, or her voice, or it could've been her hair or her personality but those small things made him forget all the years of loneliness he suffered without her, and instead, it made him remember every single moment he ever had with her. How they used to skip sleeping to just to listen to each other breath, how he first fell for her laugh, and then her sense of humor or even her bear hugs that became the best remedy to his sadness. Just a touch from her made his heart leap out of its place as if it had finally reached its home again.

A week had passed ever since they parted ways again, and only one word could describe him: Empty. This time her absence pained him even more. The first time it happened, he busied himself by searching for her, by holding on to the hope that she was alive, even when everyone else stopped searching, it became a habit for him to go stand on the top of the castle's roof, looking out into Volterra waiting for her to appear, she never did. But now... he knew that she was alive. Roaming around. She was everywhere except with him, and that hurt him.

"Here you are," He heard a soft voice say, "Aro was starting to believe you were outside the castle's walls."

"Master." He acknowledged, his gaze directed at nothing in particular.

Marcus approached Alec's spot on the roof and placed a hand on his shoulder making the boy turn and face him, "What seems to bother you, child?"

"I have been without her for more than a millennium," he paused looking up at his king, "Then why is she engraved in my mind, why can't I seem to forget her. Don't get me wrong it's not that I can't, it's the fact that I don't want to forget her, and all of that gets me wondering."

"Wondering about what?" He whispered, a knowing smile tugging on his lips, almost invisible.

"What if you were right that night? Master Marcus, is she my..." He trailed off, unable to say that word. Because saying it will change everything.

Marcus looked at his pleading face and removed his hand from his shoulder after patting it slightly, "Come on," He said turning around, "Everyone is waiting for you." And he flashed away. Leaving Alec alone yet again, he sighed looking one more time at the twinkling lights of the city letting himself get sucked into another memory.

Around the 800's A.D.:

Alec and Jane were standing in the middle of the throne room under their masters' request. As the kings took their seats the huge door opened, the familiar scent of jasmine crept up his nostrils and as much as he wanted to he didn't look back.

When he first woke up only one word was clear in his head 'Melione', it was screaming at him to go to her, to find her. And as he got up to seek her out he was stopped by his sister who woke up before him and a man with long brown hair that he learned was named Aro. That's when everything changed for Alec. Jane convinced him that nothing mattered anymore, nothing but the safety of their saviors, and their new coven.

His sister nudged him trying to cal, down his inner turmoil as his former lover stood next to him and gave him a strict nod. His shoulders tensed slightly as he focused back on Aro who was now seated with his brothers in front of them.

"Ah, young Melione," the mention of that name made his stomach twist, "So nice of you to join us." Aro received no answer. "Well, I've called you three here to tell you some amazing news," He announced happily, "Me and my brothers discussed this a lot and we decided to give you permission to go to your old village for one night and give them the...proper punishment they deserve."
