Kelsey
I sighed as I am being welcomed with the familiar walls and surroundings of Buckley. How I wish I could go to a normal school. But no. My parents wanted me to go here because this is quite near to our home. A good 30 minute ride isn't that near. Ugh!
"What's with the look?" Candace asked as I look at her as a faint scowl was plastered on my face.
"I feel lazy today." I replied.
It's early inthe morning and here we are in a music room doinv a practice for a music night that soon will be held in this school. I don't know the exact date of the event but it'll come eoon.
"Who else doesn't?" Bigi practically shouted and we all chuckled. It's Monday, who feels energetic in a Monday morning?
For the past couple of months that I had been here, I wish I was still in the Philippines. That nostalgic feeling of my grandma wakinh us up in the morning with a hot chocolate drink. Ma's feet on my cheeks coz that little scumbag always wiggle like a worm on the bed. We had a little house but it was big enough for the three of us. I just wish everything had gone better.
"You okay?" Felicity askedwhile playing with the drumsticks
"Yeah, I'm good." I said
"When everyone's settled down, we all finished the practice for today and went to our respective classes. I was walking down the hall when Connor suddenly approached me. He's one of the band members
"Hey Kelsey!" He said
"Oh hey! What's up?" I asked him while bumping my fist with him.
"I was wondering if you would want to go to my house party. I mean you're the new member of the band and it would be great that we can welcome you there with the whole senior block. What do you say?" I paused for a moment because I don't know what to do in these house parties. I mean, it wasn't like this in the Philippines or maybe just in our place.
"Don't worry, the whole band will be there." He looked over at my side then continued speaking. "Chloe and Gareth are coming too, right guys?" These guys are beside me all along? I had forgotten.
"Yep. Connor throws great parties." Gareth agreed while me and Chloe and I just shared glances. I looked at Connor's hopeful eyes. I can't really say no, can I? Ugh! Curse this I-can't-say-no attitude
"Nice! Gareth knows the address to my house but I'll send it to the group chant just in case this idiot forgets. Friday night, alright?" Connor said and Gareth smacked his head playfully while laughing.
"Oh, and hey Kelsey?" I look back at him almost searching for him because he had already walked a few meters away from us already.
"Yeah?"
"Can you drag Bigi along with you? That would be greqt." Before I could even reply to him, he had already disappeared in thin air. Don't me ask how he did that, I don't have the slightest of an idea either.
I sighed in defeat as I took out my phone to inform my parents about this party on Friday and I was being invited. I know I still have to tell him in person but at least he already knows.
We reached the cafeteria and Bigi was sitting alone in our table eating a sandwich. How can this boy eat up when we haven't arrived yet?
"You took a decade to get here." His usual cold voice said
"Why didn't you wait for us?" Chloe asked
"You're fifteen minutes late. We still got classes, where have you guys been?"
Oh yeah. I need to invite him on Connor's party.
"About that... Connor was wondering if you can go to his house party on Friday? All the members will be there and it would be fun if you go there too." I said while Chloe and Gareth went to buy our food.
"No. I don't want to." He said
"Chloe and Gareth will be there too."
"I'm not the party type Kelsey. I'm sure you probably have an idea about that already "
"Why don't you give it a try? It won't hurt you to go to aparty and have some fun, right?"
"Kelsey, look. Why don't you go there with the band and the cheesy couple over there in the counter and have fun?" I sighed because I couldn't persuade him. Not until I thought of an idea. It could work out well or not. Wish me luck.
"I'll be left out, I'm the new kid, I'm not gonna fit in." I tried to sound sad thinking it might do the trick. I sneak a peek on him if he'll be changing his "bored" look that he usually wears.
A sigh was heard but it wasn't from him. Gareth gave me my lunch as Bigi stood up from his seat.
"I won't go. If you feel you'd be left out, then don't go." He left.
What just happened?
"Is it that time of the month?" Chloe joked as she eyes the boy who was walking away from us.
"I guess, he's already full." Gareth said
I shrugged off Bigi's attitude towards us now and just ate my lunch. It has been a normal thing for Bigi's mood swings. Sometimes we just shrugged it off and after some momebts, we'd be back like nothing bad had happened.
"You're still going to the party, right?" Chloe nudged me
"Yeah, I already said yes to Connor and that leaves me no choice." I answered her and stared at the door Bigi just walked out to.
Why do I feel like something's off with him? Is there something off with him?
"Uhm, earth to Kelsey?" Chloe even snapped her fingers and I looked at her
"What's it?" I asked her
"Let's go and buy chlothes." She said, her smile reached from to ear and it was contagious enough that it made me smile in a matter of seconds even though I was already overthinking as to why Bigi had to storm off like that.
