Chapter Seventeen: Annabeth

   Sitting here and talking with Percy, just makes my heart flutter with every word. Occasionally, I'd smugly look over at Melione. Melione gives me a distasteful stare. A stare that makes me shiver up and down. I think that Percy noticed me shiver, because he then put his arm around me, pulling me close.

   "I'm going to get some more firewood." Melione says, disgusted.

   "I'll help you with that." Percy says, jumping up eagerly. As he follows Melione storm off into the forest, I feel green with envy. Was there anything to be jealous about? I'm the one with Percy, not her. But, what if she tries to get with him? I stand up to go into the woods after them, when Nico speaks up.

   "Where are you going? To follow them?" He looks at me and raises his eyebrow.

   "Pshhh, No! Why would you think that?" My voice went straingly high. "There's no need! It's not like I'm jealous or anything..."

   "Mhmm, right." He sounds suspicious. "Why don't we both go in there and follow them."

   "Why do YOU want to follow them?" I asked, out of curiosity.

   "It's not safe there. Someone's gotta protect you." He says, standing up.

   "I don't need protecting. If anything, I should be protecting you."

   "Whatever." He walked past me and headed towards the woods. "You coming?" He called over his shoulder. I shake my head lighty and soon follow Nico into the weak old green wooded trees.

   As we wander around the woods looking for the two I can't help but feel my heart beating fast, making my ears filled with the beating of my heart. Especially the direction we are headed as the sound of heavy breathing is heard as we get closer and the smack of lips tougher. I feel the jealousy soon fade. Instead I feel the pain of what I gather is my heart breaking in two.

   As we came across a little grove, Nico and I stopped in our tracks and my breathing became shallow and rapid. Soon enough, the tears I tried holding back stream down my face and soon I was gasping for a breath. Percy soon enough notices me and looks at me with guilt and sadness, while Melione starters directly at me her lipstick smeared all over her lips and a slight close-lipped smile as she still has her arms around Percy's neck. Percy is soon trying to explain but I couldn't bare to look at him nor talk to the boy I thought would never hurt me in a way.
