Maya woke up to a water droplet hitting her cheek. Rolling her eyes, she stumbled out of bed to get another empty bucket and some tape for her leaky ceiling. Once done, she stepped back, humphing at her ceiling that looked like an egyptian mummy with the amount of tape on it.

Her mom, Katy, would already be at work so Maya focused on getting ready for school. She grabbed a floral, yellow blouse and some blue jeans that hugged her figure. She matched it with brown ankle boots that she got with Riley in Texas. In no time, she was crawling through Riley's window. She tip-toed over to Riley's bed and with a loud shriek she was on top of a petrified girl.

"Maya! Every morning... you know, normal people come in through the front door at normal times." Riley stated with a smile.

"Well I know that, honey. But what kind of person would I be if I didn't make good use of this lovely bay window here?" Maya said, stroking the soft cushions on the seat.

"Now listen Ril's, it's Farkles birthday tomorrow and I am willing to let you put my name on whatever you get him."

"Really? You know I love writing things." Riley giggled and zoned out in a day dream.

"Now c'mon little miss sunshine, " A wave of cold hit Riley as Maya yanked the blanket away from her, "we have places to be."

"Hey Huckleberry, enjoy all the hoedowns back in ol' Texas?" Maya laughed, finding herself funny. She'd been waiting for Lucas to get back from visiting Papy Joe, she was like a volcano waiting to explode all of her jokes on him. Lucas sighed, expecting this from Maya and turned to speak to Riley.

"She called me miss sunshine," Riley wore an adorable goofy smile, "I'm miss sunshine." she giggled.

"Yes you are." Lucas said, trying to be supportive yet stifling a laugh.

"Maya's eyes scanned the hall for Farkle, he was always either ten minutes early to school or had met up with them at Rileys - she grew worried at his absence. Farkle's never late for school, unless Smackle jumped on him again she thought to herself.

Please don't leave me to third wheel again, Farkle.

Riley spoke up, noticing Maya. "Have you or Zay seen Farkle yet? He's not usually this late."

They all decided to ignore it for now, thinking he must have a reason for being late. Even Zay and Lucas were worried at lunch, everyone sharing similar looks of concern. He was probably just sick. Maya could feel something was wrong though, and she was pretty sure it wasn't just a stomach ache.

"I'm going to Farkle's after school to see what's going on, who's coming?" Maya asked, certain she was going to get to the bottom of this. Most ordinary people would've assumed they were all over-reacting, it's only one day, but they all knew this was Farkle Minkus. He didn't just skip school with no explanation or warning, he loved school more than anything
