Maya melted into his touch, allowing herself to be completely enveloped by him. Her mind went blank, Farkle becoming her only thought.
He pulled away all too quickly, worried that Maya would run again.
Maya, however, was too lost in the moment. Farkle watched her movements, her facial expression.
He held worry in his eyes, his hand moving from her hair to her cheek, wiping the tears from her face.
Maya's brows furrowed, not noticing the tears that has escaped. Farkle couldn't tell what she was thinking, she was spaced out.
Even as the train came to a stop, Maya continued to stare at the boy in front of her.
He wrapped her hand with his and led her onto the train.
Maya couldn't process what had happened. She was star-struck. That was not how she had expected her day to go. But hey, she wasn't complaining. Finally noticing her hand in his, she resurfaced from her thoughts and met his gaze.
She was fascinated by the way he looked at her and yet she shrunk as if she was under a microscope. If anyone else from school found out that she was capable of acting this way then her reputation would be ruined.
Maya looked down at her feet, but not before catching another glance at their entwined hands. Farkle's being significantly larger than hers.
Farkle basically dragged her home, not willing to let go. He wanted to prove to her that he wasn't leaving, that he'd be there for her.
She handed him her keys as he let her hand drop.
Snapping out of her day dream, she turned to face him with a humph.
"Okay, Sparkles. Explain. Now." She struggled to keep her voice steady while trying to sound like confident Maya again.
"She speaks! I was beginning to think you'd swallowed your tongue."
"No but you can..." she mumbled. Slapping her hand over her mouth and hoping Farkle hadn't heard her.
"Now then, you avoided me at lunch so I'm pretty sure you've not eaten anything yet. So," he turned to the fridge, "what are we eating?"
"We?"
"You can't get rid of me that fast."
