Remembering and forgetting

Maya woke to the sound of something hitting the floor. She shot up, alert, and ran into the kitchen. She dodged a flying pan, screamed and ducked.

"Oh my god, honey I'm so sorry. Did I hit you?" The fear was clear in Maya's mom, Katy's, voice.

"Mom! What the hell was that?" She looked around the kitchen to see a field scattered pans and different kitchen utensils.

"It's.. It's nothing sweetie. You'll find out soon anyways." Katy rose and cleared away the mess she had made.

"What?! Just tell me." Katy grabbed her handbag, running for the front door. "Byeee."

"Eh, no, MOM!!" Maya sighed at her mom's attempt to avoid talking.

It was saturday so there was no school today. Maya had already agreed to meet Riley and the others at Topanga's. There wasn't exactly much else to do that they could all afford.

Farkle, on the other hand, was still passed out in bed. Hair messed and comforter down at his hoodie-covered waist. He gradually woke, inhaling the foreign scent imprinted on his pillows. It was nice, it smelled like strawberries.

He inwardly groaned when his phone pinged. The light hurt his eyes in the darkness of his large room. When his eyes had adjusted to the brightness, he saw a text from Riley telling him to meet them at topanga's in half an hour.

Rolling out of bed, he walked over to his large wardrobe and picked an outfit for the day. A pair of black jeans and a grey shirt covered with a patterned blue hoodie.

He fixed his soft hair, grabbed his phone and left for Topanga's.

Once he'd arrived at the small cafe, the first person he spotted was Lucas. He quickly made his way over, snaking his way through the line.

"Hey, man. What happened to you yesterday. I thought you said you were sick?" Lucas looked concerned, but Farkle could see that his worry didn't go any deeper than the surface.

"Oh, yeah. No, I feel a lot better now. Where's the others?"

"Almost here, I think. I dunno, you know girls - They say they're almost here when they aren't even out of bed yet." After Lucas had said that, Farkle zoned out replaying the events of last night in his head. He'd only just started to remember what had happened before he'd collapsed.

The one thing that stuck in his mind from last night, however, was waking up. It was like it had happened in slow motion.

How her hair fell over her shoulder, how her tears ran down her pale skin, how she held his hair with such delicacy. He had never seen Maya like this, and now he couldn't stop. He didn't want to stop.

Once he was brought back from his thoughts, he decided to go get a coffee while he was here. Once Farkle had paid, he noticed a tall blonde man walk into the cafe. He recognised this man but he just couldn't figure out who he was.
