Chapter Thirty Three - Loved Ones

The golden sun shined brightly across the clear sky. Not a single cloud could be seen.

Ri sat on the laid down on her ground as her soft brown locks flowed along withthe glass. Her plum pink lips had a lovely smile adorning her face as Luka played with her hair.

"Mummy!" Called Luka.

"Yes, darling!" Asked Ri as she faced Luka bringing him to her lap to kiss his cute cheeks.

"I wanted to ask you something!" Said Luka in his adorable baby voice.

"Aww my baby wants to ask me something, why are you so cute?" Said Ri once again kissing his cheeks.

"Grandma is father's mother, right? So what about your mummy and daddy! Where are they?" Asked Luka waiting for his mother to rely patiently.

"Ummm, my parents live far away from here. I have not seen them for so long." Ri said with a heavy heart.

"Do you not miss them, mummy?" Asked Luka.

"Of course I do! Everyday! You know today is my mother's birthday so let us pray that she has a long life okay! I just wish I could wish her or talk to her." Said Ri as few tears clouded her vision.

"Awww mummy please do not cry. I promise to be the best son so you can be proud of me. I will always try to make you smile!" Said Luka while wiping his mother's tears away.

"My baby. You always make me smile with your cuteness overload. I am so lucky to have you!" Said Ri while embracing her son tightly.

Unknown to them that Lucas overheard their conversation crystal clear.

Ri's pov

The moon was out as sparkling stars were visible in the night sky.

I was getting ready for bed as my mother consumed my thoughts. I really want to see her face. I wanted to hug her slightly larger frame. I wanted to sleep on her lap. I missed my mother dearly. The love she showed me will never be forgotten.

I wanted to see her face or hear her voice one last time. I wanted to wish her a happy birthday. But I can not control fate. I can only pray for her good health.

I was taken as large hands grabbed my wrist. I turned to meet Lucas's gaze.

"Come with me!" Lucas commanded as I pulled me to the bed.

I sat down as he put this phone on my lap.

"There phone your mother! It is here birthday right?" He said making my heart melt.

My lips touched his cheeks as I thanked him.

I dialed my mother's number feeling nervous as butterflies swam around my stomach.

Suddenly a voice answered the call.

"Hello, who is this?" Asked my mother as tears filled my eyes after hearing her sweet voice after such a long period of time.

"Mu-mum!" I managed to choke out.

"Ri, my baby! Is that you?" Asked my mother with shock laced into her voice.

"Yes, mum, happy birthday! I love you so much. Stay safe..." I said as she cut in between my words.

"Ri, my goodness! Where were you? Your father and I were worried sick! The police also did a search but were never able to find you! They said you must have died but I never believe that! I had a feeling you were alive. Oh, Ri my baby. I miss you so much. Please can I see you one last time that is all I need! Please!" Asked my mother in a pleading voice.
