WORD COUNT: 1002

"Hello beautiful," Draco exclaimed, his eyes wide when he saw me. Tonight was the Yule Ball, the night we had all been waiting for since the Triwizard Tournament was announced... well, not quite all of us. As any loving boyfriend would, Draco had agreed to take me to the Ball, but right from the beginning he had insisted that he would not be doing any dancing of any sort.

"Hi," I giggled, tossing my long Y/H/C hair over my shoulder. The dress I wore was a gift from my grandmother, a silvery number that laid on my body just right and had a sleek, sophisticated look to it while still being just a little bit sexy. I couldn't help but stare at Draco, dressed head to toe in black dress robes, looking even more handsome than usual. He chuckled at me.

"Like what you see?" I rolled my eyes as I descended the staircase, wobbling a little bit in my heels. Ordinarily I was a boots girl -- chunky combat boots, sleek black booties, you name it I probably had it -- and the heels were a definite adjustment for me. It was also odd being a completely different height. On a normal day, my head usually only brushed the bottom of Draco's chin, but today I could stand next to him and look almost directly into his eyes. Well, more like his upper lip area, but still, it was different.

"Shall we?" I asked jokingly, offering him my arm. He swatted me away.

"I'm supposed to be escorting you, silly." Together, we walked down the staircase and into the Great Hall, which was entirely transformed. My jaw dropped to the floor as I marveled at the white decorations and the atmosphere of the hall. Draco led me over to an empty table where I sat while he went to go get us some drinks. While the champions danced, we sipped and chatted and made fun of Harry Potter's awkward dance moves. Then, once the dance floor opened up to the rest of the students, I set my drink down on the table and stood up.

"C'mon, please dance with me!" I begged, tugging on Draco's arm. He shook his head furiously.

"We had a deal Y/N, I said I'd come with you but I. Don't. Dance."

"You don't even have to waltz or anything, they're bringing out the band as we speak! Pleaseeeeee," I persisted. Draco yanked his arm back from me and crossed them over his chest.

"A deal's a deal Y/N. I don't dance."

"Fine, then I'll dance by myself," I humphed. "Or maybe, I'll find someone who wants to dance with me." With that, I turned on my heel and stalked away. I wasn't really upset, but I knew that it was only a matter of time before the jealousy got ahold of Draco and he came to set things right and swoop me away from whoever was stealing my attention. It helped that the entire time before we had reached the Great Hall, he wouldn't stop whispering in my ear about how good I looked in my dress, and how he knew all the boys would be watching me. Without even knowing it, he had given me all sorts of ammunition to get him to play exactly into my trap.

When the band started their first song, I sauntered over to my friend Lana who was dancing with her boyfriend Michael and Michael's friend Frank. Frank was a good friend of mine, the first person I had met when I was Sorted into Y/H/N, and our relationship was more like brother and sister than anything to be actually worried about. However, that didn't stop him from extending his hand and twirling me around in circles to the beat. I couldn't help but laugh at Michael's ridiculous dance moves, and I was doing a rather good impression of his attempt at dancing when I felt a pair of arms slide tightly around my waist.

"Do you really think you can get all this attention from other guys when I'm sitting right over there?" Draco growled in my ear. I leaned into his touch, happy for the familiar arms around my waist, and settled my hands on top of his while still swaying to the beat.

"What do you mean baby?" I asked innocently. If there was one thing I knew would really wind him up, it was pet names. Sure enough, his grip on me tightened as soon as the words left my mouth.

"What are you playing at Y/N? Trying to make me jealous?" he hissed, spinning me around to face him. I pressed my chest to his and leaned in close so our foreheads were touching and my lips were barely brushing his. I felt so confident suddenly, like a rush of adrenaline was coursing through my veins.

"Who me? Never," I whispered in his ear, then pressed a small kiss to his earlobe. Normally so calm, cool, and collected, I watched a flush creep up the back of Draco's neck.

"Why are you doing this?" he asked, his hands sliding lower and lower down my back. I smiled at him.

"I just wanted to dance baby, and you didn't want to so I found someone who did." My plan was working perfectly.

"I don't dance Y/N," he growled, but I ignored him. I continued to move my body to the beat, grabbing his hands and holding them above my head as I twirled in circles. The expression on his face as I used his arms almost like a puppet to make him dance made me burst out into a fit of giggles.

"I think you do dance, Draco Malfoy," I giggled, kissing him quickly before spinning in another circle. He looked like he wanted to continue to be angry with me, but he couldn't help the smile that burst onto his face. As it turned out, he did dance.
