WORD COUNT: 726
"Harry, are you sure about this? It doesn't look like it could hold two people," I stalled nervously as he brought his broom toward me. I had agreed, for our second date, to let him take me up on his broom, even though I was terrified of heights and flying.
"Yeah, I promise it'll be fine. Once we get up in the air you'll love it Y/N, I swear," he chuckled, throwing one leg casually over the broom. He jerked his head at me to try and convince me to climb on behind him, which I did awkwardly. He kicked off the ground and I immediately threw my hands around his waist and buried my face in his back, trying to avoid thinking about the fact that the ground beneath me was slowly fading away from view as we rose higher and higher.
"Look around, Y/N!" Harry called over the whistling of the breeze. I shook my head, refusing to remove my face from his jacket. I felt his back rumble as he laughed.
"I'm really quite fine here, thanks," I called back, trying not to let on about the panic in my voice. Slowly, my stomach jolted as I realized we were no longer rising upward but were instead traveling forward. Despite my best intentions, I snuck a peek out at the scenery around us but when I noticed just how far off the ground we were, I immediately buried my face right back in Harry's jacket where it had come from. My arms instinctively tightened around his waist as we picked up speed, the wind whipping my hair around and tangling it into knots.
"Look Y/N, there's the Quidditch pitch!" Harry cried, lifting one arm to point. Trying to humor him, I looked, and was struck by how different the pitch looked from so high up. As scared as I was, it was hard to look away from the sight. Seeing everything from this angle, which I had never experienced before, was such a different way to see the world, it was no wonder Harry liked flying so much!
Despite my nerves, I laughed, feeling a wave of mixed adrenaline and joy wash over me. I sat up a little straighter but didn't unfasten my arms from around Harry's waist, just for good measure. We whooshed toward the Quidditch pitch, and Harry did a few quick turns that really made me feel like I was flying in a real Quidditch match.
After we explored the pitch, Harry directed the broom toward the Forbidden Forest and we began to soar over the trees. I was watching the forest below us but then I got distracted watching Harry's unruly dark hair whip around in the wind. The stinging cold and breeze didn't seem to bother him in the slightest, and he seemed content with the hair whipping his hair around his face. Maybe it was because he was used to the feeling, or perhaps because his hair was much shorter than mine, but I was hypnotized by the sight of him on the broom, guiding it so naturally.
We flew for the better part of an hour, until the sun began to slip below the horizon and our vision started to fade. When that happened, Harry steered the broom back toward the lawn where we had taken flight, and landed us gently back down. I stumbled off the broom, extremely happy to have my feet back on solid ground, but still buzzing from the feeling of whipping around above the grounds like I was a bird.
"So," Harry grinned, pushing his hair out of his eyes absentmindedly. "What did you think?"
I smiled. "It was a lot better than I expected. I really thought you were going to try some type of barrel roll or crazy stunt to make me fall off." Harry feigned a look of shock and insult, causing me to roll my eyes at his antics.
"Who, me? I would never do that to you. Besides, I promised you I'd be careful, didn't I? I wouldn't go back on a promise like that," he responded, suddenly serious. I was suddenly much more aware of the intense energy radiating between us. I looked down at my feet shyly, not sure of what to do.
"I know," I whispered. "I trust you."

A/N: Short and sweet :) could definitely make this longer in the future tho. In case you can't tell or you haven't read it, this is a part 2 to the "First Date" chapter I wrote last month, I just thought it would be cute to continue the story a little more. Pls tell me I'm not the only one who thinks the idea of bb Harry taking you on a date and comforting you while you fly isn't the CUTEST THING EVER
