If there was one thing I would have never guessed I would be doing in my life, it would be dating an international Quidditch star. To tell the truth, I'm not even sure how I got myself into this mess, but I don't regret it for a second. Sure, it can be difficult to find time to see each other between Viktor's busy practice schedule and my final year of school at Hogwarts, and everywhere we go in public we get absolutely swarmed with reporters and photographers, and every other week some gossip columnist in Witch Weekly writes that one of us is cheating on the other, but all that aside, I was just so lucky I'd found the most caring boyfriend in the entire Wizarding world.
The sun shone in through the window in Viktor's flat, casting long morning shadows over the floor. I had never felt so comfortable in my entire life, covered in warm blankets with Viktor's strong arm wrapped protectively around me as I lay with my head on his chest listening to his heart beat slowly and his deep breaths flow in and out of his lungs. His black cat crept into the room and curled into a small ball on the floor in the sunshine.
A few minutes after I woke up, I could feel Viktor shifting around next to me, and it was only a few more seconds until his deep, husky morning voice greeted me with a "Good morning beautiful" and a kiss on the forehead. I smiled and tilted my head up to look at him and he gave me another kiss, this time on my lips. Once the cat sensed its owner was awake, it jumped up on the bed with us and began to walk over the top of our bodies, meaning it was time to get up.
Viktor headed for the bathroom to have a shower while I made my way to the kitchen. I poured myself a mug of coffee and sipped on it slowly, waiting for the caffeine to hit me so I could start my day for real. I began pattering around the kitchen in Viktor's shirt and a pair of warm socks, gathering the supplies to start making breakfast. This was our morning routine, and we had gotten it down to such a precise science that, without even speaking or planning it, Viktor was getting out of the shower right as I was setting the plates on the table for breakfast.
We ate in relative silence, both still trying to shake the last bits of sleep from our brains, and while Viktor began washing up, I headed in for a shower. We needed to take a trip to the shops today, as Viktor had the day off from practice, so I pulled on a pair of plain jeans and thick black sweater. I knew we would be photographed, so I made sure to apply a little bit of makeup, and I threw my hair into a braid down my back to keep it out of my face.
At the shops, Viktor and I walked next to each other, not touching but instead maintaining a safe distance. As expected, there were swarms of reporters, but we pushed on and tried our best to get the necessary shopping done. Viktor had never been one for public displays of affection, as he felt it was a bit soft and silly, and seeing as he was the famous one, I obliged. Every once in a while it would've been nice to have a normal date where we could hold hands and kiss like a normal couple, but that had never been an option for our relationship.
"Y/N! Y/N! Is it true that Viktor has a secret love child with Sabrina Spellworthy?" called one of the reporters, camera flashing in our faces. I ignored him, as usual. Before he had met me, Viktor had been seeing Sabrina Spellworthy, a beautiful witch and singer, but the rumors of their affair still followed him around to this day. Usually we didn't answer their questions, but something was different today.
"That is false, and you need to stop spreading horrible rumors like that. I only have one girl in my life, and that's Y/N. Now please, leave us alone," Viktor snapped, grabbing my hand and pushing through the crowd of reporters. I was taken aback by this outburst from my normally stoic boyfriend, but even more surprised when he pulled me away from the reporters, wrapped his arms around my waist, and pulled me in for a passionate kiss in front of the whole crowd. I heard cameras snapping photos and the scratching of Quick-Quotes Quills on parchment, but Viktor's kisses had a way of taking over all your senses, and I was too lost in the moment to care.
When he pulled away, he pressed his forehead to mine.
"I'm sorry they're so horrible to you," he whispered into my ear. "You don't deserve this."
"Neither do you," I responded, brushing my thumb across his cheek. He smiled, a rare sight outside of the safety of his flat, and grabbed my hand. Hand in hand together, we finished our shopping, ignoring the flock of reporters trailing us and having a wonderful time together anyways.
