Dating Draco was the one thing you told yourself you would never do. You saw the way he treated other students who weren't deemed worthy of his time, and you knew his family's affiliation with the Dark Arts, and you made a pact with yourself that you would never go there. But there was something about his piercing grey eyes and the way he seemed to become just a little more... human around you, that you couldn't resist. You went from barely acquaintances, to greeting each other in the halls, to sitting together in classes and studying for tests, to best friends, to lovers. As your heart warmed up to Draco, his heart warmed up to his fellow students, and although he was nowhere near perfect, he definitely started to soften up and be kinder to others under your influence.

As much as you truly and genuinely love each other, you argued a lot. You both were very strong-willed, and compromise was often not an option for the two of you, which led to many screaming matches in the common room or the halls outside of class. It would start out as a simple disagreement; he would say or do something, you would voice your disapproval, and he would snip back with some defensive response, and one thing led to another. No matter how bitterly you argued, however, Draco insisted that you never go to bed angry, and by the end of the night you always made up... take that as you will.

You didn't meet his parents until well after the Battle of Hogwarts and the Second Wizarding War was over. It wasn't that he was embarrassed to introduce you to them, but more that he was embarrassed to introduce them to you. He experienced immense guilt and shame over his past, and his family's deep ties to the Dark Arts, even dating further back past Voldemort's reign of terror, was a source of stress for him. He credited you with making him a better person, and he wanted to distance himself as much as he could from his past life. That being said, it was still important to him to introduce you to his family once he was absolutely sure you were the one. You were nervous as you Apparated up to the front door of Malfoy Manor with Draco, dressed smartly for a formal dinner. He gave you a quick kiss and whispered reassuring words in your ear as he rang the bell and waited for his parents to answer the door. Although cold, his parents were polite, and at the end of the night Narcissa hugged you goodbye, which Draco interpreted as a good sign.

Nightmares. Draco has nightmares at least weekly, if not more frequently, in which he'll wake up in the middle of the night screaming and in a cold sweat. Sometimes they involve killing Dumbledore, sometimes they involve you. Whatever they're about, you've learned not to question it, and just to hold him close to your chest until he's comforted.

Draco is very romantic, but only in private. He disapproves of PDA, but behind closed doors he very nearly smothers you. He's always lighting candles, cooking your favorite dinners, and setting up a fancy picnic on the balcony of your house together. Valentine's Day is his favorite holiday because he loves to spoil you and treat you like a princess, just to show how much he truly loves you.
