Chapter 2

Goldheart's POV

That was close. I'm so glad we got away without Silverstone suspecting anything.

"Frostshine! One more word and you would've given our secret away!" I hiss at her

She gives me a look.

"How is telling Silverstone that we know Flamestar giving our secret away? Besides, you have a bigger secret."

I sigh. I know she is right.

"Remember we are from NightClan, not Lightningclan. So don't give that away. Also, I-I still regret what I did" I say sadly.

"His death was not your fault!" She says

"Yes it was! If I've been a better son, he would be alright! But he's not! It's all my fault!"

"Goldheart. Remember what your mother did to you?"

I do remember. All that pain...

******FLASHBACK*******

"Goldkit! Come here! It's leafbare, you'll freeze!"

"Coming Duskflower!" I pad happily to my mother, who is a light brown and white tabby cat with orange eyes.

"Can I go with the other warriors?" I plead.

"No dear. You're far too young. Now come inside and get warmed up!"

I go inside the nursery, tail down.

But when she isn't looking, I sneak out.

Maybe if I catch something, I'll be allowed to go hunt with the other warriors! I thought happily.

That's when I saw it.

A big white owl.. Claws so long and sharp.

Coming towards me.

"Duskflower!!" I scream

She comes rushing out the den.

The owl picks me up.

I'm gone. The owl flies and flies. I struggle to get loose. Finally the owl lets go.

I'm falling!

I fell. I'm badly hurt.. I hear my mom up ahead

"Goldkit?! You stupid kit. Look! You're injured! Nightfoot doesn't have any herbs for you! As punishment, I'm leaving you here. You should've listened." She stalks away

"MOMMY NO! Don't leave me, please! I'm only a kit.."

"Yes I do remember. That's when you came and helped me. You saved me!" I say.

"I'm very thankful for that, Frostshine. "

"But maybe if I listened to my mom..I wouldn't have hurt him"

If Silverstone knows my secret...

She'll never trust me again.
