Chapter 21

Silverstone's POV

I feel a cat standing behind me. I whip my head around.

"Goldheart?" I say, surprised.

"Look, I know you're mad at me, but-"

"Goldheart I'm sorry! I should've never blamed you for any of this. This wasn't your fault." I say

"No, it's me who should be sorry. I should't have even agreed to kill Jaywing. I could've killed Duskflower. But that's why I'm here. Because I'm going to kill her."

"No! I mean.., I'm going to kill her. I have to."

"Why do you have to?" He asks me

"Because if I don't, everyone will die. She is too strong for us. She's been training for this day for years. Since you were even a kit. Cats will die..."

"And you will die.." I whisper.

"But I'm already dead" Meows Goldheart jokingly.

"Oh, you know what I mean! You'll fade away from Starclan, and I'll never see you again.."

"I'll make sure that never happens." He says as he puts his star-covered tail on my shoulder.

"So, what's the plan?" Goldheart asks.

"First, I have to turn Oakleaf into a cat again because he's stone right now, then I have to use my power to defeat Duskflower once and for all." I reply.

"Why can't you just kill her?"

"I..I don't know. Flamestar told me to, and I'm going to listen."

"But wait.. Where is Bronzetail?" I ask

"He is waiting for me back at the oak tree. Just tell me what we need to do and we'll do it"

"You and Bronzetail go kill Duskflower's strongest cats, which are Frostshine and her mate, Stormleaf."

"But she has kits!" He meows

"What are we going to do then? We can't just kill them. But we also can't let them grow up in the Dark Forest to become killers!" I say

"Bronzetail grew up in the Dark Forest.. But after he saw what Duskflower was plotting, he abandoned her. Maybe these kits need to see what they're up against."

"But they're still just kits. They don't know any better." I meow

"Frostshine and Stormleaf deserve to die.. But I'll raise those two kits, once this is all over, and return to Starclan."

"Alright then, let's go.."

Goldheart's POV

Silverstone and I both split up. I head towards the oak tree to meet Bronzetail.

"Hey Bronzetail! Over here!" I meow.

I tell him the plan.

"You go for Stormleaf, I'll go after Frostshine."

"Ok, and Goldheart, good luck" he meows

"You too, Bronzetail"

"Frostshine!" I growl

"Oh look who it is, it's our little savior!" She meows.

"I'm going to kill you!" She hisses

"Not if I killed you first!" I growl as I lunge myself at her.

I rake my claws down her back and she yowls with pain.

She quickly throws me off and pins me down. She tries to bite my neck.

Thank Starclan I have thick fur!

With my unsheathed claws, I slice her soft flesh from neck to tail, leaving her uncontrollably bleeding.

"Duskflower, will kill you..." Were the last words I heard before she faded into darkness.

"You killed our parents!" Squeaks a small voice behind me.

I look to see two young kits, a dark grey she cat with darker black flecks and blue eyes, and a black and white tom with blue eyes.

"What's your names, little ones?" I ask

"I am Shadowkit and this is my sister Mistkit. But you leave us alone!" Yells the Shadowkit as he wraps his small tail around his sister.

"Such nice names! But your parents were bad cats, and they were hurting others." I meow

"But everything will be alright, because I'll take care of you."

"Were our parents really that bad?" Meows Mistkit.

"Don't worry about any of this. Now you two stay put, and do not leave. Don't listen to any cat until I return, okay?"

"Okay. We'll be good, we promise!" They meow.

I purr and give them I lick behind the ears.

I turn to leave, because I have a battle to finish.
