two years later

"bye chris! i'll be back in an hour."
"bye j!" i leave our apartment and start heading to the nearest cafe. i ordered my usual and wait by the counter. i zone out until i hear a familiar voice, "can i have one caramel latte, an espresso, a vanilla cappuccino, a hazelnut iced coffee and an americano."

"zach? zach herron?" the boy pays before looking over at me, "do you want a pic- no way... jade?"
"yeah uh hi!" the guy calls my name so i pick up my drink and walk closer to him. "what are you doing in New York?"
"actually we're here for a concert and then press."

"i uh actually recently followed the band account. i'm really proud of you guys."
"thank you, it means a lot." his order finally got called so he takes the drinks and we walk outside together.

"wanna sit?"
"i was supposed to bring these to the boys but i'll sit for a while." we sit at the nearest table to us, "so hows life treating you?"
"well i live in an apartment with christina. i went to college for my associates degree. i'm actually going to start a clothing line."

"wow that's really amazing."
"how about you?"
"the band's doing really well. we had a sold out tour."
"i haven't heard one of your songs yet. i'll have to look them up."
"let me know what you think."

he looks at his watch, "i should probably go. maybe we can hang out sometime?"
"yeah. were are you heading?"
"that way." he points the way i'm also heading. "that's the way i'm heading." he stands up and i stand up as well.

"let's go." we walk side by side until we get to the building he was heading to. "guess this is goodbye."
"i really missed you."
"i missed you too."
we made eye contact and i felt my face blush.
it's been two years and yet i still love him.

i knew i probably wouldn't see him after this so i took my chance, "so uh do you have a girlfriend"
"no, i'm still trying to get over someone."
"oh."
"it's you jade. i want to be with you."

"really? even after i broke up with you?"
"yeah. i still love you."
"i still love you too."
i smile at him and he smiles back.
yeah. i truly love this boy.
