"Len do me a favor and get that picnic basket from under there" Gia said pointing towards the cabinet.
"yes mom" Marlene said.
She took out the picnic basket and handed it to her mom.
"Mom, is dad coming today?" She asked.
"uhm yes sweetheart he said he was" Gia said almost unsure that Brandon was coming.
She always wanted her children to be happy no matter what and if Brandon was not willing to put half in with her, she was determined to do it herself.
At the end of the day, she did not need no man to do anything for her.
"hey ma is it going to be a basketball court there?" Brayden asked coming in with a basketball in his hand.
That little boy came out the womb a basketball player. He was only 10 and was almost taller than her.
"uhm we can for sure find one sweetheart" Gia said packing the rest of the food in the basket.
She felt my phone ring in my back pocket.
"Hello" She answered it.
"Hey G. Its Brandon" He said.
She already knew where he was going with this little call.
She sighed, frustrated, "Hey can y'all go and put these in the truck for me" She handed Brayden and Marlene the baskets.
"Go ahead" She said walking upstairs to her room.
"Look I know you're going to be mad at me put something came up" He said.
She rolled her eyes snatching her purse, "Sure it did. It's whatever."
"Listen i'm sorry" He said.
"Yea... listen I gotta go" She said cutting the call.
She had no time for someone who was back and forth in their lives to ruin a good day for her and her kids.
She took a deep breath and headed back downstairs.
"You guys ready?" She said smiling as she got in the truck.
"YESSS" They both screamed.
They drove an hr and 20 min away to the Amicalola Falls State Park.
They were looking for parking when she got another call.
"Hello" She answered it.
"I saved you a parking space" He said, "Look to your right"
She looked to her right and saw him waving.
A big smiled came over her face.
Well he for sure tricked her.
The kids got out the car and ran towards him.
"Daddy" Marlene ran with her arms open.
Brayden was behind bouncing his basketball.
She walked with the picnic basket in her hand and the cooler in the other.
