chapter 28: pandemonium breaks out

Hoseok took a deep breath, composing himself as he stood outside the doors of his office with a cup of warm milk tea in his hands.

He had spent the last few days organising his thoughts, throwing tantrums at Chungha for hurting his feelings, affecting the people around him. But all this had to stop. That wasn't him. But today was a new day, a new beginning.

And he was happy-virus-rainbow-sunshine Jung Hoseok once again.

"Good morning, everyone!" Hoseok flung the doors open and marched up to Chungha's desk, immediately noticing the chaos surrounding him but choosing to ignore it. He placed the cup of tea on Chungha's table with a bright smile. "Here's a cup of hot milk tea for my hot-"

"Ya!" Chungha got up from her seat abruptly and grabbed Hoseok by his arm. "Now's not the time for this - we just got a tip from someone that V and Jennie Kim are reportedly dating. I've been waiting for you to arrive to go to the hospital where they allegedly were seen together, let's go now."

"What now?" Hoseok scrambled to his desk, gathering the mics and camera and stuff he needed. Things were not going the way he had expected, but now wasn't the time for that. "V and Jennie Kim? Wait - Jennie Kim? JK's girlfriend-"

"I'll explain to you in the car-" Chungha clucked her tongue as she bent down to help Hoseok. "We need to hurry - JW News is apparently already at the hospital. We need to go right now."

Hoseok and Chungha hurried down to the car. Meanwhile, Namjoon was yelling across the office, trying to maintain order as well as he could.

"Seulgi-ssi, Jisoo-ssi-" Namjoon shouted. "Hoseok-Chungha team just left for the hospital, the two of you can head off to BG Entertainment now and find out what's going on."

"Yes, bujang!"

"Meanwhile, Wendy-ssi and Chaeyoung-ssi-" Namjoon continued. "The two of you - ditch the articles you're currently writing and head to Gold Entertainment."

"Yes, bujang!"

"Seongwoo-ssi, Daniel-ssi-" Namjoon instructed. "V's apartment building in Hannam The Hill."

"Yes, bujang!"

"Minhyun-ssi and-" Namjoon scanned the room. All the other reporters were already out on other duties. "Minhyun-ssi and..."

"Bujang-nim!" Hyejin raised up her hand. "I'll go!"

Next to her, Jieun did not want to lose out. She got to her feet and put up her hand as well. "I'll go, bujang-nim!"

There was slight tension in the air as Namjoon pursed his lips, his eyes darting back and forth between Hyejin and Jieun.

"The both of you are still new-" Namjoon pursed his lips. "I'll send just one of you."

Jieun swallowed hard, her pupils shaking.

"Hyejin-ssi, you'll go today with Minhyun-ssi," Namjoon announced. "Minhyun-ssi, please help her out. I'll send you both to Jennie-ssi's house - please find that out somehow."

Hyejin beamed. "Yes, bujang!"

Jieun's face fell. But then again, she could understand. Hyejin had performed outstandingly with interviewing Jungkook that day. Meanwhile, she still had yet to prove herself. But that was alright - her hay-days were coming soon.
