My shoes left imprints in the stiff white snow in the Town Square of Mystic Falls as I walked around the fountain. Children were laughing and throwing snowballs at each other, making life seem peachy perfect. The smell of smoke from chimneys filled the air, making my insides warm. The mix of the whole atmosphere had a vibe I couldn't quite put in words. I listened to conversations around me, wanting to hear a few gifts parents may give their children or something happy. Instead, I heard Caroline and Stefan. "Did you find the sword?" The blonde asked. I walked over to the two and sped closer when I was out of eyesight.

"River?!" Caroline asked, confused. "I'm here. I know, a shocker." I crossed my arms and looked at Stefan. "What's going on? What are you planning?"

"Klaus is the only shot we have at finding the cure. We need him. Tyler has to call everything off." He told me. "Call off what?" I frowned. "It's not gonna happen." A voice said behind us. "You told him?" Tyler stared at Caroline. He walked down the steps towards us. "I've had twelve hybrids sworn to secrecy for a month. I have Hayley and a witch risking their lives and you're blabbing my plan to him?"

"Look, all I'm asking you for is a little bit of time, okay?" Stefan asked. "How long? An hour? A day? Because every minute that goes by that we don't do this, they're at risk. You two work with Klaus and have already served one of them up for Jeremy to kill. I don't owe you anything." He walked off. He mumbled something and Stefan sped in front of him. "I'm sorry, but I can't let you do that."

"Stefan." Caroline stared at him. "I'm sorry but I can't." He muttered. "Stefan!" I yelled, feeling eyes watching us. I looked behind him st the hybrids on top of the staircase. There were more behind us. We were trapped. "Sorry man, but you don't have a choice," Tyler said.

They got closer. We were shoved towards the forest. Where are we going?
