-Chapter 56: Better Together

"I suspect that Hiryu wanted to take mom from you," Kurena tells Sougo and I look over at her, glaring. Does she really need to say something like that? It is completely false. 

Hiryu has zero interest in me. I'm pregnant and very dedicated to Sougo, which must completely turn off a ton of guys. There is simply no way someone like that would be into me.

"You think he's interested in Marina?" Sougo asks Kurena as Kurena looks away from me. "I doubt that he likes her in that way. Most guys don't want to take someone's pregnant girlfriend away. They don't want to raise someone else's baby."

"He thinks she's hot. It doesn't matter if she's pregnant to him." Kurena shrugs her shoulders. "It isn't like I made it up. He is always giving her this one look if he sees her and seems very invested in her. Other than, he just wants what you have."

"Are you sure you know he thinks that?" 

"Finally, someone with a brain," I mutter out, rolling my eyes. Sougo is on the same page as me. There is no way that Hiryu is interested in me.

"It isn't like he's competition. Mom's only interested in you." 

I look at Sougo. "She's not wrong. I am only interested in you."

"I'm not insane mother. He wants you for himself along with everything else Sougo will obtain in the future. He's wanting revenge still. I'm sure of it." Kurena seems set on stopping this man from doing what he wants to do. Good for her.

"I have no interest in him other than figuring out why he wants to harm my precious boyfriend so much," I say, looking down. "I get that they have past history together, but why did that make him hate Sougo so much? How did he get this way?"

"I'm not worried about him too much when it comes to Marina. Marina has zero interest in him and I'm the only guy she's into. I worry more about Geiz than him." 

"Why are we worrying about me?" Geiz asks and I look over as he enters the room. 

"We're not actually worrying about you," Sougo tells him, trying to explain the situation. "We're talking about Hiryu possibly has eyes for Marina."

"Oh, so I wasn't imagining that?" Geiz thinks that as well? "Yeah, he totally has the hots for Marina. You should keep an eye on her to make sure he doesn't snatch her up. I will stop him if I see it because I am your friend and we have to look out for each other." A friend who dumped his friend for no real reason other than fear of the future. 

I look at him. "Geiz, he's not into me. He's just wanting what Sougo has. That is different than having the hots for someone."

 "No, that isn't how he feels towards you. He was checking you out despite you obviously being pregnant and belonging to Sougo. So, when are you two going to get married?" Geiz asks as he pops down, putting his hand into the bag of chips that Kurena had laid down not too long ago. "These are free for the taking, right?"

"Yeah, they are," Kurena tells him. "I don't need them all."

"Hey, we're not getting married anytime soon! I don't even think we ever get married." I look away, pouting. I want to marry Sougo, but it appears like that isn't going to happen ever. 

"Someone didn't want to put you at risk, mother," Kurena says.

I know Sougo wants to protect me, but I want to be his wife. I want to be known as the woman who owns his heart. That way, he can say he owns my heart. That is a nice thing to hear from one's partner. 

"Mm..." Geiz crunches on a few chips and I look over, glaring at him. He looks at me and shrugs his shoulders a little bit, probably because I am judging him right now. "Kurena, you still have good taste."
