Bracca: 14 BBY
Ship Breaking Yard
Jess"You're going to steal one of the new shuttles?" Cal's eyes widened in disbelief. "You guys really are crazy."
"Crazy to get off Bracca," Ryn replied. "You've been here longer than us so you might know how to get in and out unharmed."
Cal raised a hand to his chin. "Yeah, I have a few ideas."
He paused, turning as a speeder headed towards them. Prauf jumped off with several crates. The Abednedo's gaze passed over them, confused. "Am I interrupting something?"
"We had another run in with the Lita Guild," Cal explained. "They helped me out so we're coming up with a way for me to repay them. "
Jess rolled his eyes. You weren't so grateful a few minutes ago.
"I'll help too, then," Prauf said. "What are you thinking?"
"Do you have a datapad?" Jess asked.
"Here." Prauf pulled the datapad out of a crate and tossed it to him. Jess snatched it out of the air and snapped a tiny chip into it. He set the datapad down and switched it on. Schematics of the shipyard appeared. "What am I looking at?"
"Imperial shipyard blue prints," Jess replied. "We want to steal one of the Nu shuttles they brought in. I figured the only way we'll get close to the ships is if we get in and out during a shift change. Ryn and I will stake them out for a day or so, to see their routine."
Prauf shook his head, letting out a resigned sigh. "You're helping them with this, Cal?"
"I guess so." Cal furrowed his brows and eyed the schematics. "Those gun turrets will be a problem. There's four of them, one on each corner. Even if you make it to a ship, you'll never get out of range before those things shoot you down." He glanced at Prauf.
Prauf shook his head. "Don't give me that look, Kid. I know what you're thinking and the answer is no."
Jess glanced at Ryn, then towards Prauf. "We won't ask you to do anything that will put you in danger."
Prauf snorted. "Danger. Cal doesn't need help getting into danger. It finds him."
"It will find me a lot quicker without you around, Prauf." Cal flashed him a smile. "Come on. You know what we need for this."
"Taking out turrets of that size will take explosives, unless we plan to get them offline from a terminal," Ryn pointed out.
"Any terminal out there is protected by clearance codes and is only accessible by droids or officer cylinders," Cal replied. He gave Prauf an urging look.
He sighed, stroking his chin. "All right, but we can't get caught. I know where we can get your explosives. How many will you need to take out the turrets?"
"How big are the explosives?"
"Proton grenades."
Jess smirked. "That's perfect. Just get as many as you think you can and we'll make them count."
"We'll get them tonight," Cal promised.
"We'll watch the shift. If you can meet us there while it's still dark, we could plant the bombs and they'd be ready for whenever we come for the ship," Ryn suggested. Cal and Prauf nodded their agreement.
"We should get going if we're going to find those bombs in time," Prauf said. Cal stood and grabbed his crates, following his friend onto their speeder. Jess took the chip from the datapad and returned it to Prauf. In a few minutes, the two scrappers went roaring away.
