Ryn Alera

    Arwen leaned over Ryn, feeling her stomach gently. "You're doing good," she announced, stepping back at last. Ryn sat up carefully. Already, her stomach was looking rounder. "Did you hear anything new with Jess?" Arwen asked

    "He said there was a group of Rebels on the Death Star rescuing Leia. They should be here soon," Ryn replied. She bit her lip, thinking. Arwen half turned.

    "But you're still worried?"

    Ryn nodded. "I hate when we do these sort of missions."

    "Anyone in their right mind would, but it's a fact of life when you're in the Rebellion. Especially when you're a respected officer."

    "I know," Ryn sighed. The door hissed open and Zel scrambled into the room along with Azie.

    "There's a strange ship coming," Zel reported. "Senator Mon Mothma told me to come get you."

    "I'll come in a minute," Ryn promised. Zel shrugged and hopped onto Azie's dome. "Hey, what have I told you about..." she didn't get to finish. Azie zoomed out the door with Zel sitting on top of him. "Doing that," She sighed, then laughed. "Oh well. I knew she'd do it anyway after she figured it out with Artoo."

    Arwen smiled warmly. "No doubt. I'm glad you weren't here to witness that. I'm pretty sure Draven's head was about to explode when they ran over his foot."

    "Well, he would've deserved it," Ryn said. She stood and slid her blasters into their holsters. "I'll stop by later."

    "Or I'll find you," Arwen replied.

    Ryn nodded and stepped out of the medical facility. Across the courtyard, the Corellian ship touched down. Several people were already gathering around, greeting Leia as she made her way towards the command center. Ryn joined their group quickly. Two young men and a Wookiee accompanied the Princess and her droids.

    "General Alera!" Leia called, spotting her. Ryn fell in step with them.

    "I'm glad to see you here safely," Ryn said. "And I heard about Alderaan. I'm so sorry."

    A pained look filled Leia's brown eyes and a muscle in her jaw flinched. "We must grieve later. Right now, we have planning to do. I'm afraid we've been tracked here. The Empire won't be far behind."

    "That was never confirmed," the familiar brown haired man retorted. Ryn stared at him, trying to place where she'd seen him.

    Leia shot him a dark look. "It might as well have been. Ryn, this is Han Solo, Chewbacca, and Luke Skywalker."

    "I remember you," she said to Han. "Jess and I helped you escape Crimson Dawn."

    "You!" Han started. "I never expected to see you again."

    "Wait, who are you?" Luke asked.

    "Ryn Alera. It's nice to meet you." Ryn inclined her head to the three as they continued to walk. "We'll have to talk later, Han. Did you recover the plans?"

    Leia nodded. "They're inside of Artoo. Senator Mon Mothma called an emergency meeting."

    "Then let's hurry and get there."

    White hot pain coursed through his body as he struggled alongside his brothers. Snow flew and explosions flashed beside him. Blaster bolts smoked through bodies. Jess pushed on, despite the pain and terror clogging his mind.
