Jess

It had only been a few hours since Ryn and Feylin left on their mission. Already, General Dodonna and his fleet were preparing to arrive. Jess glanced out of the main hangar as several ships dropped out of hyperspace. A shuttle departed from the Republic and landed shortly.

General Dodonna emerged, followed by a few of his officers. "Admiral, Commanders, Lieutenant, we've got work to do," he said with a grin.

"Let's get going," Lieutenant Reese said, leading the way into a lift. Jess trailed behind them, listening as the Admiral and General Dodonna spoke.

"What's your plan for the attack?" Dodonna asked.

"Commander Jess came up with one that will accomplish our goal exactly," Admiral Raddus replied. The lift hissed shut behind them.

"It's too risky," Reese interrupted. "I don't like it."

General Dodonna turned to Jess. "What is your plan, exactly?"

"We'll leave our capital ships in orbit while our bombers, fighters, and a few attack cruisers attack the shipyard," Jess replied. "That's the simplified version anyway."

"Hm. I can see the risks but it does seem like it'd make a statement. It's worth a try, at least."

The lift opened up again and they stepped out into the command center. "Admiral, all of our ships are ready," an officer called.

"Tell them to standby. We will begin the attack soon." Admiral Raddus made his way over to a holotable and switched it on. Schematics of Jess's plan were displayed instantly. "Our lead ships will stay in the atmosphere in case an Imperial fleet arrives. We will leave three attack cruisers with them for defense. The rest of the cruisers will escort our fighters down to the yard and help with the attack." Raddus glanced at Reese. "Does this increase your enthusiasm?"

"It's better than leaving our cruisers unguarded," Reese sighed.

"Commander Jess, you and Commander Sato will go with the attack cruisers down to the shipyard and coordinate the attack there."

"Yes, Sir," Jess replied. He glanced at Commander Sato curiously.

"I will return to the Republic and help from there," Dodonna added.

"Then we should attack now before the Empire has a chance to figure us out." Raddus stepped back and signaled an officer. "Commanders, to your ship."

Jess and Sato nodded and headed back into a lift together. General Dodonna joined them quickly. "Take the Nexus as your command ship," he said. "It's fast and hardy."

"Thank you, General," Commander Sato said. He turned to Jess, a somewhat skeptical look on his face. "How confident are you in our chances of success?"

Jess shrugged. "Admiral Raddus wants to make a statement and the Senators want a military strike. This plan gives them both at the same time. Provided we don't get shot down by an anti aircraft cannons or an Imperial fleet, I'm pretty confident."

"Then I will be confident too." The lift halted back in the main hangar. After a short shuttle ride, the two of them boarded the Nexus and took the lead. The capital ships remained further behind as the rest of them headed towards the planet.

Commander Sato took the command seat and began running over some data. Jess stood behind him, watching as they drew closer to Kuat. "Are all our people away from the shipyard?" He asked.
