After Harry and I finished shopping, he dropped me back off at my apartment so he could go to the studio and record some of his new music. I put my clothes away and collapsed on the couch, waiting for Sofia. She was going to be here in about five minutes. I already knew what she was going to tell me. She was going to tell me that I needed to grow up and tell him how I feel. Sofia came through the door and I looked up at the corridor.
"Alright, I'm here." She sighed, putting her stuff on the kitchen island.
I chuckled and she walked into her room and appeared a few minutes later in different clothes. We had to leave soon, but no matter what, Sofia had to be comfortable when she came home from work.
"How are you and David?" I slightly raised my eyebrows at her and she blushed.
"Why did you say it like that?" She asked.
"Because your unofficial labels are killing me. Just admit you're dating."
"Well, we don't want to rush things, and we want to keep our relationship private..." She said. I rolled my eyes, knowing my best friend better than anyone. She doesn't want to keep it private. "But between you and me... He's the best guy in the world. I'm so glad we're dating."
"I knew it." I laughed. She blushed. I've never seen her blush so hard for a boy.
"He's perfect for me. I'll have to thank Harry a million times." She said. I smiled. "But, enough about it, because I wasn't supposed to say anything."
"I'm your best friend. He better figure that out quickly." I corrected her. She laughed.
"He knows." She assured me. I nodded, feeling satisfied. "Now what is going on with you and Harry?" I shook my head in annoyance.
"You should've seen how he was acting today. He was being all touchy, and flirty. He's also getting so jealous of Ryan, it's almost ridiculous. I'm almost scared to see what tonight is going to be like."
"It's going to be a train wreck." She agreed. I nodded. "Because they're both so into you."
"Shut up." I scoffed.
"I'm serious, Everly. I know you refuse to see it, but they are both trying to win your attention. They feel threatened by each other. Thankfully, I already know which side you're on." She smiled proudly at me.
"Sofia, you sound ridiculous. I'm not on a side, and neither of them like me."
"Everly, you're not this stupid. Come on." She said, lightly shoving my shoulder. "I know you don't want to get hurt again, but maybe it's time to start opening yourself up. I mean, you and Harry are becoming close." I felt a pit in my stomach.
"I don't want to ruin our friendship."
"It won't be ruined. He is giving you so many signs that he likes you. He's baiting you, waiting for you to take it."
"Are you calling me a fish?" I asked. She laughed as she threw a pillow at me.
"I'm serious, Ev, listen to me. Other than when we're together, I haven't seen you so happy as when you're with Harry. He brings out a side of you that I haven't seen since before--"
"Okay, Sofia, I get it. Alex was bad. Please, stop bringing him up." I tried to chuckle to hide my feelings, but she pressed her lips together. "I like being with Harry, but I'm just not ready to date. Especially not him."
"Why not?"
"I don't deserve him." I shrugged. She looked pissed. "What?"
"I hate when you talk about yourself like that. You do deserve him. If I had a choice, he'd be the perfect guy for you. He's playful, charming, gentle, and kind. He's your dream man, and he already treats you like you deserve to be treated. After watching your last relationship, I won't let you settle." She lectured me sternly. I nodded, holding onto her words. She's my best friend and only wants what's best for me. "I don't think Ryan is the one for you. He thinks he's Brad Pitt because of this one tiny movie, no offense."
