"Everly, if you don't wake up right now, I will come in there and pop your air mattress!" Sofia's voice rang. I groaned and pushed myself to sit up.
"What?" I yelled back. She wiggled the locked door handle and I chuckled as I stood up.
"Hello? Harry is coming today to write the article." My eyes widened and I quickly looked around. "So get your ass up and get ready."
It's been five days since Harry and I went to the fair and exchanged numbers. We've been texting each other here and there, but we haven't seen each other, until now. He's been texting me his favorite pictures of us from the fair, and I shamefully saved them to my phone. They were good and cute pictures of us, and they were his favorite. I had to save them. I also needed them to remind me this wasn't a dream, and that I will be able to tell my kids this story in the future.
I quickly got changed into something other than a pajama set. I fixed my hair and appearance, but I wasn't going to get all dressed up for him. He was coming over to help Sofia. None of this had anything to do with me, and I didn't want anything more than a friendship with him. I couldn't expect to have anything more.
"What are you looking for?" She asked as I walked into the kitchen. I was practically slamming drawers and cabinets shut.
"My blender. I don't understand how it takes two weeks for a moving van to get here." I walked to the fridge and grabbed the eggs.
"I know, the office is so bare that I have to sit on the ground." I chuckled and grabbed a pan and some butter. I turned on the stove and allowed the butter to begin melting. As that was happening, I grabbed my computer from my room and placed it on the counter.
"What are you doing?" Sofia asked as I plugged my charger into the outlet and opened my computer.
"I still have to find a job. I haven't had any luck with anything." I said, leaning against the countertop while the pan began heating. I quickly walked over to the fridge again and grabbed our stack of bacon. "Do you want anything?"
"Yes please!" She smiled. I placed four pieces of bacon in the pan, making it sizzle. I put the cover over the pan and let it cook. There was a little knock on the door as I was looking at my computer. "Everly's boyfriend is here!" She ran to the door and opened it while I laughed.
"Hey, Sofia." She shut the door and he walked further into the apartment. I looked up at him and a smile spread across his lips. "Hello, Everly Grace." I rolled my eyes at the use of my middle name.
"Hey." He looked around as Sofia walked into the kitchen with us.
"That smells good." He observed the cooking.
"Thanks. Do you want any? I was making Sofia and me some breakfast sandwiches." I said, pointing to our lack of food and utensils.
"Thanks, but I already ate this morning." He said, resting his hand on his stomach. I turned back to my computer. "The moving van still hasn't come yet?" I shook my head.
"I'm about to sue. We were supposed to get it last week." Sofia said. I chuckled and shook my head.
"It sucks." I agreed. "I like my couch." Harry chuckled.
I walked back over to the bacon and flipped them over, allowing the other side to cook. Once those finished, I moved them to a plate and cracked two eggs into the pan. All while the bagels were toasting. There was another knock on the door and Sofia walked to go open it. Harry walked over to me and leaned on the counter across from me. His stare was intimidating, but it brought butterflies to my stomach.
"What are you doing?" He asked. I looked up at him and pressed my lips together as I began assembling Sofia and my breakfast sandwiches.
"Trying to find a job." He smiled and chuckled.
