Chapter 42

Baby fever. That's all I was suffering from the second that Harry and I arrived at Ben Winston's house and I officially met Ruby. She was already dressed and running up to Harry, screaming in excitement.

"Harry!" She cheered, running with her arms wide open. Harry was already squatted, ready to grab her.

"Ruby!" He exclaimed, making Ben, Meredith, and me laugh. Once she crashed into his arms, he stood up, hugging her tightly. "You're getting so big now."

"We're going to see animals!" Her little arms wrapped tighter around Harry's neck, only worsening the baby's fever.

"We are!" Harry glanced at me with a cheeky grin. I smiled at him. "Ben, this is my girlfriend, Everly Pierce. Everly, this is Ben and Meredith." He finally introduced us. I smiled as I shook their hands.

"Nice to meet you." We greeted each other.

"We've heard a lot about you," Meredith assured me, glancing at Harry.

"Ruby, this is Everly," Harry said, putting the toddler down. She smiled up at me, giggling. I squatted down to her level.

"Are you ready to see the animals?" I asked her.

"Yeah!" She said, sticking up her thumb. I smiled at her as I stood up.

"It's cold out there, Ruby. Let's grab your coat." Meredith said, making Ruby quickly run after her mom. Harry and Ben talked a little before she came running back.

"Have fun," Ben said to Ruby before kissing her on the cheek.

Harry and I brought her to the car and strapped her into the car seat. The whole ride she was talking about different animals we were going to see. The air was very cold, and it was nice that Harry and I dressed casually. He was in black pants, boots, a sweatshirt, and a coat over top. I had an oversized brown and white sweater with little bears and designs, jeans, and some brown boots. Ruby was wearing jeans, a pink flamingo shirt, a black jacket, and pink sparkling shoes.

When we got to the zoo, Ruby was already excited. She couldn't wait for Harry to take her out of the car seat. She wanted me to hold her while Harry bought the tickets for us. She would point in shock at everything we were seeing.

"Lion!" She pointed to the sign at the front. We were at ZSL London Zoo.

"What do lions say?" I asked her.

"Rawr." She whispered, giggling as she did.

"That's right!" I cheered, making her laugh.

When we walked in, she was in total awe of what was happening around her. The first animal we went to see was the gorilla, per Ruby's request.

"This is adorable," Harry said to me as Ruby led the way. I smiled at her.

"I'm glad we could take her out. She's an angel." I said as Harry grabbed my hand.

"She loves animals. Some nights when she calls she only wants to talk about animals." I laughed as he pulled me closer to him. "And the best news is... no paparazzi or fans know we're here as of right now. We can enjoy our break." I was shocked at the chill of London. I thought I would be miserable from the cold, but it was oddly comforting to me.

"Sounds like paradise." I agreed. When we got to the monkey exhibit, Ruby walked right up to the glass. She looked at them in awe as Harry squatted behind her, pointing out the different gorillas. I smiled at him. He was so good with kids and it made me happy to watch him.

"Look at that mommy gorilla." He said, pointing to one of them. She laughed.

"Look, those two are playing." I pointed out. She placed her hands on the glass, smiling.
