"I'm nervous! Y'all know I don't do parties," I said stressing about this party my friends and I were going to. I was going voluntarily but I was still nervous. I couldn't dance, didn't like to drink, and was bad at smoking so parties always felt useless to me. I only came cuz it was the "party of the year" according to everyone and I was hoping to have some fun, maybe meet a nigga or two.

"Waa waa. Stop crying and come on we're here," Jaiya said parking the car. The five of us got out fixing our outfits before we walked in. Jaiya and I had been best friends since seventh grade. She stood up for me on my first day when everyone made fun of my shoes and we were inseparable ever since. She was a shade lighter than me and the same height. People confused us for sisters all the time but the one thing Jaiya had that I didn't was ass. We laughed all the time that she'd loan me some when we went out. We met Mia in a group chat before we got here. From the jump she seemed like someone we'd mess with and since we've been in Atlanta she's been cool. She was taller than us both but still had more hips and butt than me. She did hair, and did it good, too. We'd been here a week and she had a least three different styles. Devyn and Nova didn't get into the picture until we got on campus. They stayed in the room across from us which is how we met. Devyn looked like the baby of the group but she was secretly crazy. Mia put some faux locs in her hair for tonight which aged her slightly but she still had a baby face. Nova was what I expected Devyn to look like when she got older. Light skin, pretty face, long curly hair. She looked like an IG model. This was going to be a memorable night for sure. We already joined a promotion team, got fake ID's so we could get drinks at the club, and snuck a friend or two into our dorm rooms. We truly had a good time every night we'd been there, I felt like those girls could be the ones I went through college with. The only person I worried about was Nova. Sometimes her head wasn't in the right place but I was sure I'd start to like and trust her the more I got to know her.

"Welcome ladies," the guy at the door said looking us over. "Are y'all with STA?" he asked referring to the promotion team that was hosting the party. Street Team Atlanta. Sounded corny but they actually have a huge following. Jaiya and I jumped at the opportunity to get into parties for free and get a few drinks free just for posting a flyer or two.

"Yes we are," Mia said and I noticed she was eyeing him, too.

"Wristbands?" he asked and we held our arms out showing him the wristbands we received yesterday so they knew who to let in for free. He extended his arm signaling that we could go and we walked in smiling. The venue was huge. Downstairs there was a pool and Foosball table, the kitchen was lined with jell-o shots and snacks, and a huge open space where there was a DJ table set up and people were going crazy. The upstairs was small, just a balcony that overlooked where everyone was dancing. I noticed some people from STA and pointed them out to everyone.

"Yo man up there," Nova said, bumping me with her shoulder some. I rolled my eyes cuz I told them over and over Elias was not my man.

"Mora already said she don't fuck with him like that," Mia laughed noticing my facial expression.
