I grabbed Derek's arm wanting to help him walk but he shooed me away claiming he was fine. I came by earlier today to move some things from his bedroom to the guest bedroom downstairs since climbing the stairs wasn't safe for him yet. He was in the hospital a little over a week but came home today.
"You wanna sit in the living room or go to your room?" I asked, still trying to help him.
"I'll sit on the couch for a little. I'm not tryna be in a bed all day," he said and I knew he was sick and tired of hospitals. "Come sit with me?" he asked.
"Let me put these clothes in the wash for you first," I said, taking the small load to the laundry room to clean. When I came back he had the tv on, watching some of the Falcon games he had missed while in the hospital. I sat next to him, leaning on him comfortably.
"You real persistent you know that," he said, looking down on me.
"How?" I asked, smiling up at him.
"I told yo ass so many times I didn't want you getting too close and here you are doing my laundry for me," he laughed. I responded by placing a kiss on his lips. After the whole lockdown situation at the hospital he explained that he did more than sell a little weed to college students but I had already figured that out. He still wouldn't go into detail for fear of me knowing too much but I would get it out of him eventually. I did know that whoever he called came and shot both of the guys that were looking for him, killing both. The more I got to know him the more some things about him scared me. Like the fact that he could just make a call and end two peoples lives right then and there. I cried when he told me at first because it was sad to think their lives were really over. But, he explained to me they would've killed him and I quickly understood this game was all about getting to them before they had the chance to get to you. I also started to understand why he never wanted to have the surgery because it left him in a real vulnerable state.
"What do you want for dinner?" I asked when a commercial came.
"We can order chinese," he suggested but I turned my nose up.
"We've been eating out for a week, I want real food," My time in the hospital with him was exactly like the last time. Except I slept there every night on purpose this time. I went by my dorm to hang out with everyone when he wanted to just sleep but I hadn't actually slept in my own bed since he had his surgery. After being with him so much it was getting harder to leave him.
"You gon cook for me?" he asked and I nodded and got up checking to see what he had in his cabinets. Nothing.
"You don't cook?" I asked, looking at a pretty much empty fridge as well.
"Nah, I love to cook. I just never have the time," he said surprising me. I figured if I was going to make him some food I'd go all out. I sat back down next to him and pulled my phone out making a grocery list.
