My heart stopped when I heard those words. Shot?? How could she get shot? I wished Derek would've let me go because I had so many questions. Right now I just wanted to see Mia.

"Which one I'll meet you there!" I said rushing out of the bed. Jaiya and Devyn rushed up, too. We were all ready.

"No! Stay there. It's too hot right now. Something's not right, I can feel it," he said ominously. I cried hoping Mia was ok.

"Was the gunshot bad?" I asked and he was quiet.

"I don't know I'm not a doctor. We'll see. I'll call you as soon as we get there and as soon as we hear anything," he promised. Something in his voice scared me. Derek was always a very calm person and right now was no different, but I could tell when he said something's not right he really meant it. It came through in his tone. I paced the room so tired of just sitting and waiting. I couldn't do it anymore. I checked Derek's location and when he arrived at the hospital I grabbed a hoodie Bianca had loaned me and walked downstairs, Devyn and Jaiya behind me.

"Can you take us to the hospital?" I asked.

"Mia's in the hospital?" Bianca asked, jumping up from the couch. She had a blanket and looked like she was planning to sleep there. I nodded my head sadly and she rushed to put a jacket on and grab her keys. For someone who had never even met Mia she was doing all she could to help us through everything and I appreciated her so much for it. One of Rodney's men was waiting on the other side of the door when we left.

"Bianca, where are you guys going?" he asked. I'm sure he had been told to keep us in the house.

"Either you come with us voluntarily or we're leaving without you, forcefully," Bianca stated and he shook his head. He knew he'd be in trouble for this. At the hospital I didn't even have to ask where Mia was. The waiting room was full of all the men who had gone to get her. When Derek saw me he stood up quickly and snatched me up, walking to a waiting area without any people.

"What the fuck is wrong with you? Why can't you ever listen?" he practically yelled in my ear.

"I've been waiting around all day, I can't keep sitting and waiting at that house. I need to know how she is." I said breaking down for the hundredth time today. Derek's face softened as he tried to wipe my tears but they were coming down too fast.

"She was shot in the back," he said and I gasped. "It missed her spine, she should be ok," he finished and I let a breath of relief out. "It doesn't make sense, though. I'm sure Clyde's men have better aim than that. And if they really don't why would he kidnap her just to give her back with a little gunshot? It doesn't make sense," I could see him trying to process all the possible reasons or scenarios in his head.

"A warning?" I threw out there.

"To who Bash? He's the only person directly affected by it. I mean I am and you are but my tie to Mia is through you and he doesn't know you to be tryna send a message to you," he said shaking his head.

"You sure you can trust Bash?" I asked, wondering if maybe he was doing something behind Rodney's back.

"Nah, he'd never do no snake shit like that," Derek sat down in a chair and I sat in his lap.

"Maybe he was trying to hurt both of us. He did set my car on fire. He probably expected I'd get in it," I said. He thought for a moment, nodding his head.

"Maybe. Ion trust it though. Since you wanted to bring your ass to the hospital after I asked you not to, you're not leaving my sight," he said wrapping his arms around me and resting his head on my back. He kissed my back softly a few times.
