I bent over kissing Elias lightly on the lips. When I stood up to walk away he smacked my ass causing me to turn and swing on him. Lucky for him I missed.
"You play too much," I whined. It had been a few months since the whole date night fiasco with Derek and I'd clearly moved on. Elias made his intentions clear and never changed his mind. The past few months with him brought nothing but happiness to my life. Derek still tried to hit me up here and there but I didn't respond because that'd be disrespectful to Elias and there wasn't anything we needed to talk about. I was happy with who I was with and nothing or no one could change that.
"I'm going to the vending machines, you need anything?" I asked him, pouring some quarters out of my wallet.
"Nah, I'm straight, thank you," he said his eyes glued to the game. I shook my head knowing when he saw my candy he was going to ask for some. I walked down to the second floor where the vending machines were and rested my hand on it, leaning in to see what they had. I settled on some sour skittles, hawaiian chips, and an Arizona.
"Don't get watermelon Arizona. It's ass" someone said behind me. I stood up slowly knowing who the voice belonged to.
"Hi Derek," I said, trying my hardest not to roll my eyes.
"Wassup baby girl," he smiled. "You can't answer my texts no more?" he asked as if he was actually hurt by it.
"No, there's no reason to," I said mugging him. I went back to sticking quarters in the machine trying to get the next item.
"Look, I'm sorry about what happened that night. It was just a lot going on in my life," he said trying to make excuses.
"Why are you even here? You have an apartment," I said confused as to why he'd be in the freshman boys dorms on a Tuesday night for fun.
"I gotta lil nigga that lives here. He's like my lil bro, had to come check up on him. Why you here?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.
"My boyfriend stays in these dorms," I said matter of factly making sure to look up so I could see his reaction. His face stayed exactly the same as if I didn't bother him at all.
"That's cool and all but are you gonna keep ghosting me?" he asked, moving on from the boyfriend subject. I tapped the machine wanting the chips to drop so I could get out of there. When it finally did I grabbed all three things out the bottom of the machine and turned to face him.
"Yes," I said and with that I walked away never looking back. "You will never guess who I ran into at the vending machines," I said out of breath when I got back to Elias' room.
"Who?" he asked, focused on Call of Duty.
"Derek," I said, rolling my eyes. He glanced up at his name but didn't say anything for a second.
"Weird. Why's he here?" he asked going back to his game.
"He knows someone here I guess. He's kind of weird now that I think about it. I regret ever going out with him," I said thinking of how odd some of his actions are. Why are you coming to check on a friend at night? Maybe that's why he didn't want a relationship with me because he actually likes men. I shook my head not even caring enough to keep thinking about it and focused on Elias.
"Gimme some," he said, opening his mouth as soon as I tore the skittles open. I knew it.
