The girls and I meet at the dress shop. I spot the dress I want almost immediately. The theme of the gala is Wizard of Oz and the beaded red gown reminds me of the ruby red slippers. I try it on and while it will need a little hemming done it otherwise fits perfectly. The girls all love it so we move on to looking for them.

Kate finds a gorgeous emerald gown, like the Emerald City. Millie falls in love with a gold gown in honor of the yellow brick road and Emma picks a pale pink gown to represent Glenda the good witch. We find shoes and accessories to go along with our dresses and then decide to grab a quick bite to eat.

Kate wants all the gossip from Millie and I about our weekends spent with Oliver and Hunter. I sit back and let Millie answer her questions first.

"So tell us all about Hunter. Most importantly tell us all about the sex. Does he know what he's doing?"

Emma laughs. "Jeez Kate, just get right to it why don't you."

Millie isn't afraid to have this conversation and proceeds to tell us all about her weekend. "Well, Hunter is amazing. At first I wasn't sure that it would be anything more than just sex. Really, really, good sex by the way. But after spending the entire weekend with him I found out he's actually incredibly smart, funny and generous. He puts on this act of playboy who doesn't care but he's actually a total sweetheart. Except in bed. In bed he is just down right dirty." She says this last part with a wink and a big old smile.

We all laugh and Millie turns to me. "So Lil. Whats the story with you and Oliver? Since you guys spent the entire weekend together also, I'm guesing things are going well?"

"Yes, things are going very well. We had a good long talk about our past and I think we both want to give it another try."

Kate, reaches over and squeezes my hand. "Lily, that's great. I'm happy for you both. You guys were always so good together." Just then my phone vibrates and I look down to see its one of the volunteers from the womens shelter. I excuse myself from the table and step outside.

"Hi, Karen. What's up? Is everything okay?"

"Hey Lily. I'm sorry to bother you but we just got a call from Emily. You know her ex has his parole hearing tomorrow. Well Emily's sister was going to come into town to go with her but something came up and now she can't make it. Emily is really scared to go alone and called here asking if there was anyway that you could go with her. Apparently, she feels most comfortable with you. I told her I would reach out to you and one of us would get back to her tonight."

"Yes, that's fine. I told her I would be happy to go with her. Did she give you the details?"

"Yes she did. The hearing is at 10 AM. I also have the courtroom number. I can text you all the info."

"That would be great. And if you could call her back really quick and let her know I'll meet her outside. I'm at dinner right now and need to get back in."

"No problem at all."

"Thanks Karen. Have a good night. I'll see you Saturday."

I go back inside and Emma asks if everything's okay. I tell her about the call and that I'll need to be out of the office for awhile tomorrow.

Millie being a lawyer starts in with the questions. But I can only answer so much considering what's said in the support group is private.

"Well just be careful. If that bastard does get out and he sees you as an ally of this woman's then he could turn his sites on you too."

"I'll be careful, I promise. I'm just going as moral support. I won't have to talk at all and he won't have a clue who I am."

We finish dinner and say our goodbye. I go home and do a few things around the house before I get ready for bed. Once I'm settled in with a Linda Howard novel my phone vibrates. It's a text from Oliver.
