"It's gorgeous," Daeliah chimed in, a hint of glee in her voice. "Let's marry him. He has great taste."

I smiled softly, shaking my head. "Only if I could..."

The thought clung to me as I changed into the dress. The fabric felt like it was made for me, embracing every curve, every angle. I fixed my hair in a messy but elegant bun, something to highlight my collarbone. The reflection in the mirror was someone I barely recognized. I looked... beautiful. For the first time in a long time, I allowed myself to feel that.

Before I could reach for my heels, Austin interrupted, his mouth hanging open.

"Whoa... stop right there, hotness." His eyes ran over my figure as he grinned. "You look... incredibly sexy." He stared a little too long at my cleavage.

"Hey, eyes up here," I said, covering myself with my hands.

He laughed, rubbing his arm when I slapped him. "Girl, you've got boobs." His teasing tone did little to cover the affection behind his words.

"By the way, where are you going dressed like that while your boyfriend is working his ass off?" he asked, grabbing my heels and kneeling down to help me put them on.

"Dinner with my mate," I replied, laughing at the absurdity of it all.

"Am I being dumped? Where's my alimony?" He fake-cried, standing up dramatically.

I raised an eyebrow. "Minus 5K for overacting. Do you want to join us?"

"Nah, I've got another conference in ten minutes." He made a puppy face, and I couldn't help but roll my eyes.

"Take care, Austin. And eat something before you go back to work, alright?"

We started down the stairs together, him beside me like a brother, teasing as usual. "Why don't you act like you're not so happy to let me go with him?" I whispered.

"Why?"

"Because no boyfriend would be thrilled to see his girl dressed up for another guy," I muttered.

"Maybe one who values freedom. Like me," he smirked, completely unbothered.

"Do you have to make it so obvious that we're faking it?"

"Relax, I've got it covered."

We reached the bottom of the stairs, and there was Alex, standing with Charlie, Tim, and two other wolves. Their jaws practically hit the floor as they stared at me, awestruck. But Alex's growl brought them back to reality, and they all bowed their heads immediately.

I smiled to myself. Moments like these made him even more irresistible.

As I walked toward him, he motioned to the door, and we headed outside together. Just as we reached the entrance, Austin called out, "Antonio, babe! Wait."

Babe? Seriously? This man was begging for an early death.

Before I could react, Austin pulled me into a hug. "I'm sorry for our argument earlier. And for being so busy..." He lingered, long enough for Alex's fury to radiate through the air. Everyone could feel it. The wolves, the wind... even the night seemed to grow still in response.

"Bring her back in one piece, will you?" Austin said, flashing a grin at Alex before letting me go.

The tension was palpable, Alex's fists clenched at his sides. I took his wrist gently, trying to diffuse the situation. "Let's go," I said, leading him out. But I could feel the storm brewing within him.

"Thanks for the dress," I said, trying to lighten the mood with a smile. "It's gorgeous."

"No. You're gorgeous," he replied, his voice low, sending a rush of warmth through me that settled in my cheeks.

We got into the car, the silence between us heavy. What was he thinking?

"I bet it's a hundred ways to kill Austin and then burn us beside him," Daeliah muttered, making me chuckle.

Alex's head snapped toward me, an eyebrow raised. "Copycat," he mumbled.

I pouted, and he smiled, the dark edge to his expression softening for just a moment.

"Do I look like a clown?" I asked, half-serious.

"No. You look adorable enough that I want to pin you down right now." His voice darkened as he looked away, staring out the window.

The air thickened between us. A storm of emotions swirled in my chest, and I finally understood what people meant when they talked about butterflies in their stomach.

I cleared my throat, desperate to break the awkward tension. "You mentioned a little child living with you.

"Shouldn't you be asking who is he to me ? unless you already know? " he asked

I looked at him shockingly not knowing what to say. I fell right into his trap . "i'm sorry i didn't understand? " i said nervously.

"i mean i heard Timm telling you everything about the pack people , Me and everyone in the morning! " he said still looking away .

"oh-ohkay " i spoke. i can't understand how can he even bring questions like that . i mean it's so unexpected and i am not prepared.
