"Thank you for letting me say goodbye... for the last time," Davina said, her voice thick with sarcasm as she glared at the dark lord, who was far too absorbed in the delicate task of stirring sugar cubes into his tea.

"Needless," he muttered, not even bothering to look up. "So, what's the plan now that you're... you know... dead?"

Davina blinked. "Uh... aren't there options? You know, like heaven or hell?"

The man snorted, his focus still on his cup. "That's for humans."

Her eyes narrowed. "And what about meeting the Moon Goddess? like people die and they meet their god ? Can I tell her how much I hate her for the fate she cursed me with?"

The man finally glanced up, his gaze lazy but amused. "God or not, you sound like you're ready to kill her."

Davina muttered under her breath, "The moment I see her..."

The dark lord leaned back in his chair, a smirk creeping onto his face. "About that... I, uh, brought your soul. So, technically... I'm your lord now."

Davina's jaw dropped. "Brought my soul? What, was my soul on sale in some clearance bin or something?!"

He gave a casual shrug. "No, dummy. And I don't owe you any details."

She let out an exaggerated groan, feeling her patience slipping. Why is it always him? "Why did you even bring me back in the first place?!"

"I needed a servant," he said, his lips curling into a devilishly smug grin.

"Serva—SERVANT?!" she nearly screamed, her eyes wide with shock. "Do I look like some kind of... butler to you?!"

He raised an eyebrow. "We can train you."

Her fists clenched. "Do I look like a pet?!"

The lord seemed to ponder this for a moment. "Actually, that might be a good option."

She threw her hands up in frustration. "You're forgetting I'm dead!"

He sipped his tea and gave her a bored look. "Correction. You're immortal now. Don't you remember you've got a tiny sliver of my power?"

Davina stared at him like he'd just declared himself King of Nonsense. "You—are you missing a critical part of your brain? Who even made you lord?"

From beside her, Daeliah piped up helpfully, "Bribes."

The lord's eyes darkened. "I heard that."

Davina turned to Daeliah, her heart pounding. "You're alive! Oh my god, I'm so sorry! I couldn't protect you—"

Daeliah cut her off, waving her hand. "Breathe. Yes, I'm alive. Thanks to the brainless idiot sitting right there." She pointed at the dark lord.

"I can hear you, you know. And stop insulting me while I'm literally in front of you," he said, sounding more than a little annoyed.

Davina ignored him, her gaze dropping to the ground. "If I'm immortal... can't I go back to him? To Alex?" Her voice grew soft, vulnerable.

"Go ahead," the dark lord said, his tone suddenly cold. "If you want him dead."

Her head snapped up. "What's that supposed to mean?" she demanded, a fiery edge in her voice.

He sighed, like someone forced to explain basic math to a child. "The Moon Goddess writes the fate of wolves. And according to her lovely little prophecy, Alex's future no longer includes you. You meddling in his life will only make things worse. And if you push too far? She'll reset everything. Starting with him."

Davina's breath hitched. "Then why?" she choked out, tears blurring her vision. "Why did you save me?"

His eyes softened for the briefest second, though his voice remained stern. "Because I wanted you to live. For god's sake, live for yourself."

His words cut through her, the darkness in his eyes sending a shiver down her spine. How could someone be so... empty? Yet, there was something deeper there, something that scared her more than his coldness.

"What about him?" she whispered.

The lord's expression hardened once more. "He'll get another chance. Another mate."

Silence hung between them for a beat too long before he broke it with a sudden, almost boyish curiosity. "So... what is it that you've always wanted to do?"

Davina blinked at him, caught off guard by the sudden shift in tone. One moment he was ice, the next... was that excitement in his eyes? How could anyone flip that fast?

She crossed her arms lost in her own thoughts ."i know you are upto something. so, what's the starting and ending point? " daeliah asked.

Davina grinned to herself and she whispered. "The Moon Goddess. It started with her..." Her eyes gleamed with wicked anticipation. "And it's going to end with her.
