Chapter 11

"Amane-san, you are really the second Kira, arent you?" L asks.

"Huh? Do you think you're going to get away with this? Hey...call my manager!" The blindfolded and restrained girl yelled.

"Oh?" L asks.

"My manager!" She yells.

"Still want to act like a celebrity, do you? Even though you are a murderer?" L asks.

"L, all else aside, this is a violation of human rights!" Mogi says.

"Would you rather interrogate her inside, showing your face to her, allowing her to kill you?" Y/n asked Mogi.

"She's been arrested as the second Kira. These measures are only reasonable. We have evidence too. Kira never left any evidence. Our only choice is to get at him through the second Kira," L says. "Amane-san, haven't you met Kira?"

"I don't know what you're talking about," She answers.

"Don't cover for him. He's the one who ruined your life," L says.

"What are you doing to me? Come on, take this stuff off!" Misa says as L smirks.

"L, M, what did you say to the Chief Superintendant?" Yagami asks.

"From your question, I can infer that he has allowed our method of inquiry to be used," Y/n says.

"Did you threaten him?"

"The ability to kill people just by looking at their faces cannot be judged under the law. It seems the men up top are all terrified that, if Amane is acquitted, they'll be next on the chopping board," L says.

"That fear is controlling them," Y/n says.

When we are afraid, when we are under stress, we speed up our brain's 'angry-face search app,' but, as we get faster, we get less accurate. We start to see angry faces that aren't there, reading calm faces as angry.

And the stress hormones don't choose what we fear- they amp up whatever we've learned to fear. That's why society falls apart under ongoing stress - cracking us at our weak-points, spreading hate and indifference like a damn virus.

Yagami's phone rings as he takes it out.

"Is that Light-Kun? Go on, I'm sure he's worried about Amane. In many aspects," L says.

"Light...It's the police's job to determine that..."

"Amane-san, you know Kira's identity, don't you?" L asks.

"Are you trying to provoke him?" Y/n asked L.

"Is the reason you're not saying because you're afraid he will kill you? Or because you've fallen in love with him? But does Kira love you back?" L asks. "No, I'm sure he just thinks of you as nothing but a burden. If Kira knows your name and face, he could be killing you very soon. Who is Kira?"

"Then shall I say it? Kira is...Yagami Li..."

"Kill me. Please kill me already." Misa says.

"Is that you giving up and admitting that you are the second Kira?" L asks.

"You can do it, can't you?" Misa asks.

"Huh?" L asks as Y/n leaned her head to the right to show confusion as L almost cooed.

"After all, I was supposed to die then anyway. Even if I die now, I'll die happy. Please...kill me," Misa says before she went slump.

"What happened?" L asks.
