"A comparison of the names of criminals written in the notebook, as well as those written because their deaths benefited Yotsuba, are a match for the suspicious deaths that occurred," Himura said.
"Can you kill people just by writing a person's name in this thing?" Yagami asks.
"According to the first page, it works that way," Y/n says, reading off the paper L had printed with the rules of the killer notebook.
"Write their name, and they'll die within 40 seconds. If the cause of death is not specified, the person will simply die of a heart attack," L says.
"Then why did Higuchi die?" Mogi asks.
"Higuchi's name isn't in the notebook. Maybe there's another Kira since Misa Amane was here under surveillance," Y/n says.
"Then, we must assume it was suicide?" L asks. "Light-Kun, is there something wrong with your watch?" L asks when Light stares at his watch.
"No, it's fine,"
"If we're going to start investigating Higuchi, can we get one thing clear first?" Mogi asks. "Judging by the rules written in there, Light-Kun and Amane-san's innocence is proven, isn't it?" He asks as everyone turns to look at the detectives.
"If the person using the note fails to consecutively write names of people to be killed within 13 days of each other, then the user will die," L says, reading off a rule.
"Light-Kun and Amane-San were in holding here for two weeks," Mogi says.
"If any of them were Kira, they would have to be dead right now!" Matsuda shouts.
"Matsuda, you don't have to state the obvious," Y/n says, the raised volume scaring her slightly.
"That is indeed true," L says, walking to Light. "They are both 100% innocent," He says, smiling slightly. "I'm sorry for doubting for so long." He says, bowing slightly.
"Thank you," Light says.
"If a person makes this notebook unusable by damaging or destroying it, all the humans who have touched the death note will die," L says, reading another rule.
"L, M, and Light have touched it. Which means there is no way to dispose of the notebook," Yagami says.
"We'll keep the killer notebook under strict security here in the countermeasures office," L says.
Y/n fidgets around nervously as she tried to not make eye contact with the shinigami that was in front of her.
"Yagami-san, please mount an inquiry on the other Yotsuba executives at once and run an on-site inspection before the night is over."
"Sure."
"You can finally go home, huh?" Mogi asks Light.
"Yes," Light replies. "We'll just tell Sayu my trip got extended."
"Why not stay on your trip a little longer?" L asks. "A great number of problems remain, such as an in-depth analysis of this killer notebook. I was hoping that you would lend me your aid as a friend."
"Got it. Dad, you heard him."
"Yagami, it'll be a favor to us," Y/n smiles.
"Okay. Aizawa and Matsuda will go to the scene. Himura-san, check the forensics one more time."
"Yes, sir."
"Mogi and I will hold the inquiry on the Yotsuba executives."
"Understood."
