"What do you want?" Watari asked, opening the door.

Meet Watari, the man who brought Y/n and L to his orphanage, Wammy's House, as he changed their lives forever.

"Watari, can we go to Japan?" The figure with a black hoodie asked.

This figure is Y/n. Her sense of style was just about the opposite of L. While L preferred his white shirt and pants, Y/n liked to stick to her black clothing. Hoodies were a favorite- it hid her from everyone else.

People were always looking, but how many of them could see? Y/n guesses that that's why she wears hoodies. It stops the judgments made by those competition-obsessed-social-status-crazed minds of people. At the very least, it protected her face from them. If they really looked or had any emotional intelligence, they wouldn't just see a teenager in a hoodie.

Y/n's job also required her to hide her true identity. If anyone had ever asked for her name, she would use her alias, who she christened Akiko Gasai.

Akiko is a girl Y/n made up. She is a college student who also works part time at the nearby cafe and stays near the Tokyo area, and loves spending her time studying.

In the professional world, everyone knew her as M, the second-best detective in the world.

"The Japanese police have not asked for your help," Watari said.

"This is dared." L said.

Kira had appeared on the internet a while ago. The case of murders with no shreds of evidence left sparked something in L and Y/n just like years ago.

Right, I forgot to tell you how old they are. These detectives are very young.

In Wammy's house, L and Y/n have their own circle that includes Near, another young child. If they were an actual family, Y/n would be the middle child at 18, L the oldest at 20 and, Near the youngest at 15.

Y/n and L worked hard for some clues about the Kira case. Japan was their target, specifically as Kira had a tendency to strike in Japan. Kira also is a Japanese nickname that translates to 'killer.'

"I'll pack my things," Y/n said as she got up from the stairwell.

Once alone in her room, she took off her hoodie and clothes as her pale skin showed itself as she was clad in her lingerie. She put on her black clothing once more before packing her luggage, filling it to the brim with clothing as she knew this case was going to take a long time to crack.

"Do you have to leave?" Near asks as he clung onto Y/n.

"It's only for a while. It's not forever." Y/n says to the pouty boy.

"But a while feels like forever." He says with watery eyes.

"Okay. When I get back, I'll bring more toys. How about that?" Y/n asks, pecking his forehead as she looked at him with her gleaming e/c eyes.

"Fine." He says as the two eldest of the group left the youngest.

"He really likes you," L says as they got into the car.

"We're all he has now. Of course, he does." Y/n says, closing the car door as it started driving to the airport.

At the airport, they grabbed snacks to eat before boarding the plane, and Y/n looked out the window to admire the clouds.

"Do you think Near will be fine with no one to help him with Mello?" Y/n asked as she cuddled against L.

"He'll be fine." L reassures as he placed his head on hers.
