Tonight was the night. Brendon and I were getting ready for prom in separate rooms. I was in my sister's room, and Bren was in our room. We were only getting ready this way because we hadn't seen each other in our suits yet, and I wanted to see his reaction to the full reveal. It was so adorable to see him get excited over the smallest things, and I knew that he's flip when he saw me. This wasn't me being arrogant. It was just me being realistic because Brendon looses control of himself when he sees me in a suit.
I tucked in my button-down and straightened out my jacket. I fixed my hair and made my way out into the hallway. I couldn't wait to see Brendon. I'd never seen him in a suit before, so I was really excited. He was the love of my life, and we were going to have a romantic night together. Everything was going to go perfectly, and I was going to make sure of it. The door to our room was still closed, so I knocked on it lightly and told my boyfriend that I'd be in the living room. He answered with a muffled "okay," as I walked downstairs.
"Oh, Dallon, honey, you look wonderful," my mom gasped as I walked into the kitchen. I smiled at her and got the corsage I'd bought for Brendon out of the fridge. I found a seat at the kitchen counter and anxiously checked the time on my phone. "Sweetheart, give him a little bit. You two don't have to leave for another half hour," my mom told me, noticing my impatience. "I know. I just want to see him all dressed up," I laughed nervously. My mom smiled at me and walked over to give me a hug. "You really love him. I can see it." I nodded and hugged her back. "Yeah, I love him a lot. When I'm with him I feel complete," I told her. "Y'know that's I how I felt when I first met your father. I felt like he made everything worthwhile. I felt like he gave me a purpose." I felt a blush grow on my cheeks. "That's exactly how I feel with Brendon." She nodded and her smile grew wider as we heard footsteps coming down the stairs.
"Holy shit," I mumbled under my breath as I rose up from the chair and walked over to Brendon. I was in awe at how great he looked. He had a bashful smile on his face, and his cheeks were flushed. "Bren, you look... amazing," I told him, taking his hands in mine once he'd reached the bottom of the stairs. "Y-you look s-so hot," he whispered to me. "Bren, you should see yourself," I spoke quietly. He smiled up at me and quickly blushed deeper as he saw my mom taking pictures of us.
"H-Hi, Mrs. Weekes," he said as he approached her. "Hi, honey, you look so handsome. My Dallon is a very lucky boy to be with someone as wonderful as you," she replied, giving Brendon a hug and motioning for me to give him the corsage. Bren grinned widely at the corsage and bit his lip as he looked down at it. "I lo-love y-you, Dallon," he whispered again. "Love you too, baby."
We took pictures for the next twenty minutes. Some were in the foyer, some in the backyard, some on the front porch. We took pictures with my parents and sister, just the two of us, and individually. It was exhausting, but I could see how happy my parents were to be able to share this with Bren and I, and I could see how happy Brendon was to have a family who cared about him. It was really nice to see him look so genuinely happy.
Shortly after taking photos, Jack, Nick, Allison, Linda, Spencer, and Jack's date Claire showed up in the limo we'd rented. My family was already outside when they pulled up, so we could clearly see Nick standing through the sunroof. He was really excited to not being to prom with Ryker. Normally, my parents probably would have been concerned, and my mom would have lectured me about all the freak accidents that could occur while standing through a sunroof, but they knew that we were all excited and didn't find it necessary to out a damped on the mood.
Before we knew it, we were pulling up to the venue. Brendon's leg was bouncing. I placed my hand over his knee and leaned closer. "Are you doing okay," I asked. He nodded, giving me a big smile. "Excited?" He nodded again, and I feel like his leg started bouncing more. "You're so cute," I told him. Brendon's face flushed as Spencer threw a solo cup at my head. He had warned us about being too "mushy gushy," his words, not mine. "Spence, fuck off," I groaned. "Stop being all mushy in the car. We're literally 30 seconds away from leaving the car." I rolled my eyes and pulled Brendon into my lap.
"W-wanna make Spencer m-mo-ore annoyed," Brendon whispered, trying not to laugh at whatever he was thinking about. "Always. What've you got," I asked, expecting a plan of some sort but was met with Brendon's lips on mine. He moved to straddle my lap and put his hands on either side of my face. We kissed like this for only a few seconds because Spencer moved over to where we were seated and lifted Brendon off of me and into the space next to me. Nick, Allison, Jack, Claire, and Linda were all snickering. I tried to hide my laughter but wound up snorting. Brendon fell off of the seat because of how hard he was laughing at me. "You guys are so annoying," Spencer whined. "Th-then, mission ac-complished," Brendon giggled. "You've really got an attitude on you now, Bren," Spencer sighed, jokingly nudging Brendon as he got off the floor.
We exited the limo soon after and made our way into the venue. The dance was held in the banquet hall of a high class hotel, so everything looked incredible. I could see Brendon's eyes light up as we walked through the doors, and I could feel his grip tighten on my hand. "Dallon, e-excuse me for-for saying th-this, but holy shit," he said. I laughed and hugged him tightly. "You don't have to excuse yourself for cursing around me, B, and if you want, you can curse all night, and I won't tell anyone," I told him. He smiled and bit his lip. "I love y-you," he mumbled. "I know, B. I love you too. Now, let's go dance. Whitney Houston is playing."
The whole night was spent with Brendon being all giddy and quickly kissing me any chance he got. He was a little bundle of excitement and energy, and I was falling deeper and deeper in love with him. He was laughing and had this goofy smile plastered on his face that made my heart melt. He broke off and danced with Jack for a bit when Spencer and I went to grab snacks, and when I came back, he nearly attacked my neck with his mouth. "Hey, Bren, woah woah woah, you're feeling a bit touchy, huh," I spoke, giving him a quick kiss before pulling him off of my neck. "I just l-love you is-is all," he told me. "I love you too, Bren. Are you getting tired?" He shrugged his shoulders and looked up at me with the most affectionate look I'd ever seen. His eyes were big, and his pupils were dilated. I could tell that he was only focused on me, and I'd never felt so special in my entire life.
The dance was winding down, and there were only a few songs left. Bren had stopped dancing for a little while because he was eating some snacks with Jack and Claire. I was with Spencer because Linda had gone to hang with some of her friends. Then I heard a familiar tune come on over the speakers. This song had come on the radio when we went to Sonic together after school. That was the first time we'd spent time together outside of school. Brendon had told me that that was the first day in years that he'd felt like he genuinely mattered. "This song is for all you young lovers out there," the DJ said into the mic. Brendon and I caught each other's eye from across the room. We made our way to the center of the room and I held Brendon close. I wanted to spend the rest of my life with him. "Forever young, I want to be forever young," I sang to him quietly as he rested his head against my chest.
We swayed to the music, and just when I thought the boy in front of me couldn't make me feel any more in love, he pulls back a bit and says something to me. "Dallon, I-I really f-ucking love you," he said, biting his lip nervously. "Holy shit, Brendon Urie cursing up a storm. I'd have never gue-" I started teasing him, but then he wrapped his tiny hand around my tie and pulled me in for a kiss. We stood there in the middle of the banquet hall, and I'm sure that all eyes were on us, but it truly felt like we were the only ones there. "That w-was-" Bren started. "Amazing," I finished for him. He nodded and leaned his head on my shoulder. "Brenny, can I ask you a question," I spoke to him softly. He nodded his head and kissed my neck once softly. "Are you going to curse like a sailor all the time now," I asked, earning a playful smack on my arm. "Ow," I said jokingly. "You're r-rude," he mumbled. "Yeah, but you love me." He sighed softly. "Yeah, I-I do."
