{This is one of my favorite chapters, and I think it'll be one of yours too}

I don't know why, but the moment Brendon walked into that library on Tuesday, I could feel a pit in my stomach. He had gotten changed since school let out. He looked softer. He was wearing a leather jacket that was clearly too big on him and didn't quite cover his beautifully exposed collarbones. Under the jacket, he had on a powder blue tank top. I felt like the rest of the world was melting away as he walked closer to me. His black slacks hugged every angle of his body, and his well kept black Converse were tied in a perfectly symmetrical bow. I don't know how the hell he'd managed that. The long strands of hair that he usually had styled up were laying delicately over his forehead, some falling over his glossy glasses. It suited him.

He didn't seem as hesitant in his strides when he walked. There was a slight blush dusting his cheeks once he'd realized that I was staring, but I couldn't seem to tear my gaze away from him. "Hi," I spoke in a somewhat daze. "Hi." His eyes met mine as he pulled out the chair opposite me. His small hands carefully turned the science textbook to where he could see it. "I'm going to m-move over by you so we don't have to struggle to sh-share the book," he explained and stood.

I was immediately overwhelmed in the scent of his sweet floral shampoo. There was a hint of cologne, but it was overpowered. The smell was something I wanted to have near me more often. "Y'know, you should dress like this more often." A small smile found it's way to his lips. "Real-ly?" I nodded. "You look really hot." He looked up at me with a surprised expression. His cheeks turned red. "Your hair looks nice too," I told him. I could see the gears turning in his head as his eyes flickered to my lips. "No, it doesn't. It looks bad. Every time I'd try to fix it, it would just flop back down onto my forehead," he argued, speaking slowly.

I told myself that it was probably just in my head. Brendon didn't like me like that, but somehow, we'd gravitated closer. "I like the way that your hair falls over your eyes. It makes you look like a nerdy schoolboy," I laughed as he stuck his tongue out at me playfully. I felt light and airy.

He smiled at me when he noticed that I hadn't done a single problem of homework since he'd gotten there. "Are you done working," he asked. I shook my head but continued to look at him. His gazed darted to my lips, and I was sure that I wasn't mistaken.

"Y'know, Brendon, you can go ahead if you want to kiss me," I whispered. He looked up at me with his gorgeous brown eyes then looked to his lap adorably. "I don't mind at all," I said in an even quieter voice. His lips parted slightly as he made the distance between us nonexistent.

It was like everything I'd ever heard about true love was coming to life and being proven right by the amazing person sitting in front of me. I felt like I was floating. His mouth moved against my own with such innocence. I knew that he hadn't kissed a lot of people before and that he wasn't very experienced, but his soft movements and sweet taste were better. He was better than the most experienced kisser in the entire world.

He wasn't trying to fake knowing what he was doing. He was just kissing me and trying to follow my mouth. His lips tasted of cherry chapstick. I'd never realized that he wore chapstick. The way his smooth lips melted against mine as I brought my hand up to touch his cheek was enough to leave me missing them as soon as the kiss ended.

I pulled back softly and just looked into his deep brown eyes. He was blushing, and I think I was too. "Brendon," I started. "I'm not sure if I can hold off any longer." He furrowed his eyebrows. "I can't push off telling you that I like you." His face stayed contorted in confusion until he saw how serious I was. "Can I take you out on Friday?" A smile spread across his face.

He nodded quickly, not giving me time to revoke my question. "Oh my gosh, Dallon, yes, you can take me out," he shouted, throwing his arms around me. "Hey, Bren," I started. He looked up at me with his excited brown eyes. "We're in a library." His eyes went wide, and he covered his mouth. I laughed and heard my heart beat grow louder as he did the same.

"So, what um what did you need help with," he asked quietly. I loved the blush on his cheeks. "Okay, so I balanced most of the equations, but I just can't figure out how to decide what type of reactions they are," I explained. He nodded and tried to stare down at the textbook but wound up looking at my hands. "Sorry, uh which questions?" His eyes met mine again, and I could see how dazed he was. I placed my lips on his for a moment and watched him lean towards my lips as I pulled away. "Questions 5 through 25," I told him. He grinned.

"I- uh do you have the formulas written down anywhere?" I nodded and pulled the sheet of formulas out of my binder. "You just have to like see if the set up of the balanced equation is the same as one of the formulas. So if you have 2HgO yielding 2Hg + O, which formula does it look like?" I looked at my paper and squinted, frustrated because I couldn't see the similarity. "I-I don't know. This is so fucking frustrating," I sighed, wanting to slam my hand down on the table.

"It's okay, Dall. Okay, so do you see how the formulas for decomposition has one reactant and two products?" I nodded my head. "Alright, good. The equation that you just balanced has the same structure. Do you see that?" I looked at my paper again and saw what he was talking about. "Yeah, I see that now. I just don't know if I'm going to remember that when we're tested on it," I told him. He nodded his head. "Okay, let's practice some more then."

I kept getting frustrated when I didn't recognize the formulas immediately, but Brendon would tell me to move on from the question. "Bren, I can't keep skipping the questions." He smiled at me. "I know. Go back to the first one we skipped now," he told me. I furrowed my eyebrows at him, but he nodded me on.

I looked at the question and saw the formula immediately. "How did I- how did you do that," I asked him. "You were too wound up about it. I needed you to look at it with fresh eyes," he explained. I let a smile take over my face.

"You're so hot when you act smart." I laughed as the small boy next to me blushed. "Stop it!" Brendon lightly hit my arm. "Can I kiss you again, pretty boy?" He nodded and smiled at me. I kissed his nose softly and found my heart swelling in my chest as he giggled. "God, I am so lucky to know you," I said, dazed and looking at my best friend blushing and giggling sweetly.
