"Make way for you Royal Highness, the Princess of Kingdom Rhopalocera, Princess Tsuyuri Kanao."

She tried her best to smile at the guests as every pair of eyes in the room were now focused on her. Everybody said that tonight, the glow of the moon would shine down only on her, it would illuminate her pale skin as her dress made by the finest of silk hugged her body. But even so, she couldn't manage to be happy.

She did what everyone told her to do. She has been following their orders and pleas for all her life, and she was fine. But why now? Why does her body desperately want to get rid of her heavy gown, why does her feet want to get rid of her heels to run barefooted, why does she want to escape?

Aoi looked at her with concern, "Are you sure about this? You could cancel any time." The girl stated, her dainty fingers lightly touching the flowers of the vase.

Kanao just smiled reassuringly. It was fine. Ever since Her Majesty, the Queen, Shinobu Kochou went to marry Lord Tomioka, and Her grace, the duchess of  Lepidoptera Kanzaki Aoi wedded the Emperor of Sus Scrofa, Kanao was left to rule over Rhopalocera.

And she knew that she is to be wed and give birth to a son im order to continue their lineage. It would just be as simple as fulfilling her duty. Yes, just simple as that.

"I knew that I was born for this, yes? Everything will be fine, Aoi. Anyways, please ring the bell to call for luncheon." She replied, taking a sip of her tea. Careful not to look at Aoi's sapphire eyes.

"You do realize that you are subtly shifting your gaze, yes?" The other girl sighed, placing a hand on her own and continued, "We would always wish for your happiness, so if you do not want to be wed with a man you never met then everything will be fine."

Kanao knew that too. But isn't it just the same as wasting time for the same outcome? In the end she would still be wed.

"I know how your mind works, it doesn't mean you are extending the process. What I mean is that you should marry a man you would want to spend your life with." Aoi sighed.

"What if I never fell in love?" She asked. Because she knows that's the question she's been dreading, she just placed it on the back of her mind to suppress her worries.

Aoi smiled lovingly at her, "Oh, I'm sure you will fall in love. Just wait. The harder it is to find, the more fulfilling it will be."

The moment she realized, it's too late. She's already dolled up. And the groom is too. Everyone is waiting, hopeful of a great union in between them both. She wants to escape. Her thoughts racing along with her heartbeat. A thousand of questions are in her mind, she's formulating a thousand of scenarios with all the possible outcome.

She could cancel the wedding right now, but everyone will be upset. The King might even be angry and would break ties with her kingdom.

The preparations have already been made, even by postponing it for a day would be no good.

Escape. Right now. Without anyone knowing. That would definitely spike more problems. She, the Queen would be considered missing, she would abandon her Kingdom, she would lose her home.

Is it really worth it? Just to try and find love? And what if she never found it in the end? Really, sacrificing her everything for the sake of nothing. How pathetic would her story end?

"You can all take your leave." A soft voice spoke, Aoi. "I would like to have a talk with the future bride."

She turned to look at Aoi her eyes lazed with confusion when the girl shoved a bag in her hands and proceeded to get rid of her clothes.

"What are you doing?" She finally managed to ask but her face only paled to hear her answer.

"Escape."

Did she hear that right?

"What?"

"Escape." The girl said again not really getting her point of asking.

And with a matter of minutes, she's now casually dressed, with money and a survival pack, along with a rope tied around her waist.

"Call for me when you need me okay?" Was Aoi's final words her cheeks strained with tears before pushing her down the window.

And when she turned her head, there was man doing exactly what she was doing. And when she squinted, it was her groom.

"Ah, my apologies your Royal Highness, I did plan to escape on our wedding. And it seems you did too. Anyways, if you managed to forget my name, just call me Lord Tanjiro then."

Oh, the irony, really.
