Chapter 13

Ryan's P.O.V

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who thought something was up with that guy Chad. Now Kate, Lucy, and I are in the lobby searching for him.

"I think I see him," Lucy whispers.

"Why do we need to whisper?"

She shrugs. "Cool I guess?"

"Let's just go," Kate whispers.

We all walk quickly towards Chad.

"He is just eating a donut and leaning against a car," Lucy says.

"Who is he waiting for though?" Kate asks.

"Have you noticed that all cops love to eat donuts?" I ask.

"Omg they do!" Lucy says.

"Yeah I- Kate get back here. What are you doing?" I try to grab my friends arm to pull her back.

"Who you waiting for?" She asks.

Lucy and I run up next to her.

He looks at all of us and frowns. "Oh it's you three again."

"Who are you waiting for?" Kate asks again.

He glares at Kate. "That's none of your business."

"Where's your badge?" She presses on.

Chad looks down and then back up. "That's also none of your business."

"Shouldn't officers be wearing their badges all the time?" Her eyes blaze.

"Nothing that involves me has to do with you," he spits.

"Why wouldn't you let us be at the mountain? You know snowboarders go there all the time."

"Enough Kate!" He grabs her arm.

Oh no he won't.

I push his arm off and grab both of them by the wrist and lead them away.

"That's right Kate! Make Ryan pull you and Lucy away from me. Where your meant to be!" He calls after us.

"What were you thinking Kate?" I ask once we are out of ear shot from Chad.

"Who cares? How did he know our names?" She asks.

"Yeah. That was really strange, we never told him our names," worry in Lucy's eyes.

I shake my head letting go of them. "I don't know."

How did he know our names? Lucy's right, we never told him. I hate to admit it but Kate's right too, we need to go after this guy. The way he grabbed Kate by the arm, like he wanted to brake it. She had no fear in her eyes but I saw Lucy did. We need to figure out about the glowing door and Chad. Nothing adds up right now.

"We need to keep following him," Kate says rubbing her arm.

"Did he hurt you?" Lucy asks wide eyed.

Kate shakes her head. "No."

"Yes he did," I frown reaching for her arm.

I turn Kate's arm over and find it burning, literally. It makes her skin sizzle and it's red but doesn't melt through her skin, instead, it disappears.

"What the-" Kate's eyes widen.

"How did your arm do that?" Lucy says her voice shaky.

"I-I don't don't."

"How did he do that?" I ask.

"I told you," Kate says without looking away from her arm.

I exhale. Who is this guy?
