Hey guys. So, it's been over a year since I updated. I sincerely apologise for that. I kinda forgot about this story but I'm back now. I don't know if anyone reads this book anymore or reads this far so I guess that's kinda the reason I haven't been updating it as often as I used to but as I said, I'm back now and I'm determined to finish this book. I do have a plot in mind for the ending so hopefully it won't take too many more chapters. Anyway, enough of my rambling, let's get on with the story

TW: Implied death/ murder, implied child/ domestic abuse, alcohol abuse

Y/N's POV

Patton and I both exchanged confused yet concerned looks. This little boy stood in front of us, clearly upset which was obvious due to his tear stained cheeks. His body was covered in bruises and cuts and scars and he was shivering in the cold, only wearing a thin t shirt and shorts. He hadn't been...had he? My mind immediately turned to the worst scenario but I quickly shook the thought, giving the small boy a kind smile.

"What's your name sweetie?" I asked in the softest, sweetest voice I could conjure up as I gently knelt down to his height.

"Theadore miss. Theadore Williams but my mummy calls me Teddy" He nervously fidgeted with his top, which was soaked through due to the rain.

"Well Teddy, why don't you come inside so we can get you nice and warm and dry first yeah?" I suggested and he replied with a small nod.

I slowly extended my hand to him, which he took as I led him inside with Patton shutting the door behind us. I guided him over to the sofa and sat him down whilst Patton went to get a towl and blanket. The others, who were packing away the game, looked up at us with a mild curiousity and gradually began to gather around us. Teddy shuffled back a bit, clearly shy and nervous.

"Guys, a little space please?" I smiled gently and they slowly backed away.

"Who's this cutie pie Y/N?" Bella asked with a gentle smile.

"His name is Teddy. I think he's lost" I explained and she nodded in understanding.

Teddy glanced between the two of us, a little confused. "Why do you look the same?" he asked, clearly trying not to be rude.

Bella and I quickly glanced at eachother, not knowing how to reply as we did not want to confuse the poor child. Fortunately, Ivy stepped in with a lie, telling him that we were all sisters and the others were brothers, which he quickly believed. I let out a small sigh of relief just as Patton entered the room with a towl and blanket. Gently wrapping the towl around Teddy, I made sure he was nice and comfortable before sitting beside him. Patton sat next to me and gently squeezed my hand for moral support. I gave him a grateful smile before turning back to Teddy.

"Teddy, my name's Y/N and this is Patton" I introduced ourselves, Patton giving a small wave in response. "And we want to help you, okay? But in order to do that, you're gonna have to help us too. Can you please tell us what happened?" He fell silent for a moment, looking away. Clearly he didn't want to talk about it.

Patton placed a gently hand on Teddy's leg. "Kiddo, everything's going to be okay, alright? We want to help you. Just please tell us what happened. Take as much time as you need, m'kay?"

Teddy looked up and sniffed before hesitantly nodding. He took a deep, shaky breath before telling us the events of that day. "Earlier today, mummy and I were watching TV when daddy came home from the pub. He goes there a lot. He says it's cause I make him sad" He started to explain. A twinge of guilt was felt in my heart but I bit back my tears, wanting to be there for the poor boy. "He seemed really angry this time though. He had a gun. He started shouting at us and pointed the gun at me. Mummy screamed and cried and told me to run to the park and she'd meet me there when it was safe. So I ran there and waited but she never came" A few tears trickled down his cheek so I took a tissue and gently wiped them away.

"Did you hear any loud noises when you left Teddy?" Patton asked.

Teddy nodded. "I heard a loud bang"

Everyone fell silent, knowing exactly what had happened to Teddy's mum but no one having the heart to tell him. We couldn't upset this child anymore.

"Did...did your daddy ever hurt you?" I asked, attempting to still sound soft and sweet but my voice faltering a little.

He nodded "Sometimes when I upset him or made him angry"

I couldn't believe my ears. Who would do such a thing to a child? I glanced up at the clock, realising it was quite late.

"I think it's getting a little late. We have a spare room you can sleep in for the night okay?" I smiled gently and he nodded. "Do you want some hot chocolate before bed?"

His face lit up. "Yes please"

Time skip

He finished his hot chocolate and was all tucked up in bed. I gently kissed his forehead. "Good night Teddy. I'll see you in the morning. Everything's gonna be okay" I reassured him.

He gave me a small smile. "Thank you. Good night Y/N"

Smiling, I turned the lights off and gently shut the door. What were we going to do?
