18 YEARS OLD

KANG BYEOL POV

"Out on the streets for a living, picture's only begun"

I pull my window down and lock it.

"Your day is sorrow and madness, got you under their thumb"

I pull the blinds so hard the curtain almost unhinges, my headache increasing tenfold.

"Whoo, black diamond"

I can't take this.

I stomp down the stairs loudly, looking out onto the grass patch in front of my house. Seeing that Kimchi has done her deed, I take a disposable takeaway container and use a newspaper to scoop it up. "Thanks love, go back inside," I smile at her, seeing her features light up and wag her tail as she walks back into the house.

I walk over to Ahjumma's place, seeing her sigh as she opens the door and my face comes to view.

"I'm sorry honey I told him to wind it down but he just wouldn't listen," she speaks irritably, knowing why I'm here.

Why did I have to have my room right across from his? I can see straight into his room a lot, not that I'm a creep but he might be.

I force a smile onto my lips, not wanting to seem suspicious. "Actually Ahjumma, I'm fine. This whole experience made me realise I can't keep butting heads with him, so I actually made him a peace treaty breakfast before we go to school. Could you give it to him?"

She beams brightly, taking the white takeaway container from my hands. "You know, I always knew you were the bigger person," she jokes.

I nod, waving goodbye before making my way to school. As soon as she shuts her door I take my skateboard and start rolling off, getting away as fast as possible. I only get a few feet away when I hear a shriek pierce the air, making me stop to look back and laugh uncontrollably.

"Fuck you, Kang!"

Jungkook reaches out through his room window, holding the evidence. I continue to laugh at his disgusted look, flipping him off. "Next time don't play your music so loud! No one listens to Kiss anymore, Jeon."

I stop to catch my breath, looking up at him slowly turning confused seeing his devil smirk return.

He glances over at my window, seeming to calculate distance. My eyes widen in realisation, fidgeting in my spot trying to find a way to stop him.

"Jeon Jungkook, don't you fucking dare—"

SPLAT!

With his athletic ability combined with great strength, he had thrown the dog shit bomb I made for him right at my window. I shriek, cringing as the brown sludge begins to drip down the side of the house.

Well, at least I closed my window, I thought. I look at the time, seeing how I'm about to be late for school. He leaves his house, seeing me still standing in the gap between our houses looking dumbfounded at the sliding shit. He laughs evilly, unlocking his car in the process.

"When will you learn that you can't mess with me, Kang. I'm the King at what I do," he sings.

His tires screech as he speeds off, the screech snapping me out of my trance immediately taking the ladder and climbing up with a cloth. This is a whole new low, Kang Byeol.

Once I reach school my arms feel tired and strained. My uniform's wrinkled everywhere, hair a knotted mess.

"Damn girl, you smell like shit."

I turn to the amused voice rolling my eyes. "It is what it is, Haru."

She takes my skateboard from my hands, putting it in my locker for me as I brush my brown hair straight. "Do I even need to ask?"

"He threw dog shit at my window, Haru. My arms hurt from scrubbing the side of my fucking house."

She chokes before laughing hysterically. I look around at everyone else, second-hand embarrassment settling in.

"I don't know her," I say to particularly no one, backing away from my locker and patting my hands down.

She begins to clutch her stomach, bending over awkwardly. "Ow ow..."

"It's not even that funny!" I hiss before taking my books and going to my second-technically first lesson.

I open the door with a loud bang, shocking the teacher and a few students inside. Before she can begin nagging at my tardiness I make hand gestures shutting her up. "Yeah yeah I know sorry late where do I sit," I cut her short.

She huffs in annoyance, muttering something about ingrate kids. "The only seat left is next to Mr Jeon."

I narrow my eyes at his smiling ones. He must have planned it. Nonetheless I hold my chin up high and sit next to him not uttering a word.

He brings his shirt to his nose, dragging his chair away from me hissing. I look at him hard, eyes boring holes into his head. "Ms Woo!" He raises his hand up suddenly.

No no no, no more trouble.

I look back and forth at him panicking. She points to Jeon, indicating for him to talk. "Can she sit somewhere else? Something really smells."

The rest of the class erupt in giggles, looking at me dirty. I roll my eyes and look at the teacher. "Come on, Ms... Moo," I begin, forgetting her name. The class only bursts out laughing more as she glares at me.

"You can't be serious, right? There are bigger issues like the deprivation of education on our poor young souls. It's about time we focus on our future and careers, don't you think?" I look at her, giving my famous innocent starry-eyes.

"If you disrupt my class again I will not hesitate to kick you both out. Ms Kang go wash up and come back straight away after!"

I stand up angrily, walking out the door. I look back at Jungkook and the teacher once more. "Fine, you cranky old cow," I mutter under my breath, causing Jungkook to lose it and start laughing.
