Chapter VI: Reappeared

time skip (1 month later)

(Y/N's POV)

It's been a full month since I left my old life behind. I decided to not show myself to the Scouts because they might want to kill me and because I could endanger them, Zeke might send titans after me.

So I've been living in the shadows, following the Levi squad from a distance. Wherever they went, I followed, like a phantom. They never realised that I was sleeping in the forest near their cabin, that I was there when Armin and Jean got kidnapped, I was also present when they made that deal with Reeves. I learned of their plan to make Historia, the rightful heir to the throne, queen of the Walls. And it took all my willpower to stop myself from letting Eren and Historia get kidnapped on the streets.

I had a hard time making money, but once in a while, I would beg on the streets or steal to make a living. I've been wearing clothes that I took from the richer fat asses. And I never realized how toxic and poisoning living with Zeke was. All his rules and conditions were really weighing me down. During my time, free as a bird, I found myself smiling and laughing a lot more. I finally drank alcohol, I ate what I could find and I showed my face to whoever I wanted.

I also learned more about the cadets and Levi. Armin was not the same. He had become more vicious and from time to time he would let that side of him show and I can't tell if it's a good thing or a bad thing. Eren has been getting more nightmares and it made my heartache when I would wake up in the forest to his screams. Levi is not much different then I imagined him to be. But everytime I would see him fight, I would always find something interesting about him, something he was hiding behind that cold expression.

Today, Levi announced that they are going to spy on those MP bastards. Once again I followed them through the forest and into town. I kept my jacket hood up and tailed them from a safe distance, blending with the crowd.

But suddenly I heard Levi shout and the cadets spread in different directions. Levi and a member of Hange's squad were hiding on a rooftop. But suddenly the girl's face exploded. Levi's face widened in shock. Then a strange man with a weird hat, flew up with a strange 3DM gear, with guns instead of swords. And he was about to shoot Levi. But that was the first time I saw the Captain truly angry.

"KENNY!!" he roared.

He threw his blade at the man then lifted his cape as a protection from Kenny's bullets which bought him time to find a way to escape by sliding off the roof and into an alley

What? Kenny?

I ran and did my best to follow him. He seemed disturbed and was practically emanating rage. I stayed out of sight, as he zipped through alleys at top speed. He was soon ambushed by three of the cowboy's men. Levi evaded and zipped further down the road. But suddenly the cowboy was there and began to shoot Levi. The corporal glided on the ground with his 3DMG and escaped in an alley. I stayed hidden an follow him quietly.

He flew from street to street but the three from before shot at him from above, forcing him to bust into a small tavern at the end of the street. I ran to to the back door and snuck inside from the kitchen, taking a seat at an empty table, my hood still up. The old manager was greeting Levi, with a mix of admiration and fear in his voice. I heard Kenny yell from outside the bar, but my focus was on Levi who was wiping blood out of his eye.

"It's the damnedest thing. I seem to be smelling a rat in this fine establishment. Come on out little rodent." he taunted climbing up the stairs. "A sheriff is here! And I aim to exterminate all the vermin I can find. Bang! Bang!"

The guy was stomping around, terrifying the poor bartender but Levi had already dove under the bar.

"Oh come on! You here or not!" he yelled some more.
