Yay! Lunch is over. I can go see Lukas now. "See you later," I said heading toward the door.
"Wait, where are you going again?"
"Lukas, remember," I replied. My new and only friend. How could she forget? "I'm meeting him again today."
"In the woods? I mean, it's such a dangerous place," my mom asked, "why can't you guys meet in the village?"
"Because, that's where we met," I explained, "and I can't change where we meet today because we already decided to meet in the woods." And not to mention he's a fox, not a wolf. So I can't bring him to a village full of wolves who don't know that foxes exist. They might try to attack him. He could get hurt.
When I got home last night, I, for the most part, told the truth. The only thing I left out was that he is a fox. So now they just think that I was in a wild wolf battle and that after that, me and the wolf became friends.
"Fine, but be careful and try not to get hurt," She said, "and be back by dinner."
"Sure," okay, I won't try to get hurt and I'm always careful. I started back to the woods, "bye" I turned into my wolf form and ran into the woods before my mom could change her mind about letting me go see Lukas. Maybe there is some way for Lukas to meet my family. Like, something that could make his fur gray or whatever.
When I finally found the spot that me and Lukas met, I saw Lukas leaning against a tree in his human form. Then I realized that I've never seen his human form before. It was never really confirmed that he was a Humanimal. I just assumed that, since he could talk and normal animals can't. I was able to get a good look at him before he noticed me.
He had reddish-blond hair that swayed to the side and brown amber eyes. He was wearing a green short-sleeve T-shirt that said Minecraft gamer with a black hole type shape in between, with a green creeper coming out of it. Lukas was also wearing light blue jeans along with that and black shoes.
I stepped into the light, so he could see me.
"Oh, hey," Lukas said, finally seeing me. He stared at me for a moment. Then I realized that he has never seen me in my human form either.
"Hey, umm," I replied trying to think of something to say, "... nice shirt?"
Lukas smirked. "Why do you not seem so sure about that,"
I smiled, relieved that we have the kind of friendship where we can joke around with each other. "I don't know," I said, "I mean it is a nice shirt."
"Yeah," He replied, he sounded relieved, too, "Thanks."
"So, are you a Minecraft gamer, or do you just own that shirt cause it looks cool," I teased.
"Minecraft Gamer," he replies, "does that really sound like something I would do?"
"Well no, but I just met you, I could be wrong," I told him.
"Anyway, do you play?" Lukas looked at me.
"Not that much, but I have it," I replied, "what do you like better, survival or creative?"
"Survival," Lukas affirmed, "definitely survival."
"Yeah, same," I agreed.
"Do you like to read?"
"Yeah, but I don't get much time to," I told him, "do you?"
"Somewhat," Lukas told me.
"Cool," I replied, "favorite hobby?"
"Exploring in the woods," he said, "you?"
"Nothing beats it," I replied, "that seems to be our biggest thing in common, and that's how we met. Right?"
"Right," Lukas confirmed.
We were quiet for a moment. Then Lukas asked me another question, "What are you most afraid of?"
"That my parents will lock me up and not let me explore or not let me choose who I marry, like in most princess movies."
"Wow, that's a little deep," he said looking surprised, "do you think your parents would actually do that to you?"
"No, I mean maybe if I was an only child," I replied, it was a little deep, "what about you, what are you most afraid of?"
"Dying," he replied, Lukas had a faraway look in his eyes like he was recalling a memory.
"And you said mine was deep," I joked then I got serious, "that's what you're scared of?"
"Yeah, I mean aren't you," our eyes met.
"Yeah, I guess so," I thought about it, "but we are all going to die eventually so it still seems like a silly thing to be scared of."
"But knowing that you could die any second now doesn't scare you at all?" He seemed so surprised.
"If you live in fear that you're going to die any second now, you're going to miss all the fun and amazing moments that you get to live through. What if you never eat new delicious food because you're scared that it's poisoned and then you miss out on the best food you would have ever eaten. What if you never make new friends because you're scared that they will betray you and kill you and then you miss out on all the fun adventures and moments that you would have spent with your new friends. What if you never left your house to explore in the woods all because you're too scared of the not really dangerous stuff out here is going to kill you and then you miss out on the most fun thing ever. If you live in fear every second of your life, you're going to miss out on all the fun things that will happen in your life."
"Wow, that was so inspirational," Lukas said amazed, "you're a princess alright. Did you come up with all that right now, on the spot?"
"Yeah, did you like it," I asked, a little out of breath, inspirational speeches weren't as hard as a lot of people say they are. You just have to have the right topic and the right motive.
"I mean, Yeah," he looked at me, and our eyes met, "It was awesome!"
"Thanks," I said, blushing a little bit. We were quiet for a moment each in our own thoughts.
Then he asked another question, "Do you like surprises?" Wow, that came out of nowhere.
"Uh, sure, yeah," I replied, "Do you?"
"Sometimes," Lukas looked at the ground.
"Why?"
"No reason," was Lukas blushing? Then he changed the subject, "So, what's it like to be the princess, all royalty and stuff?"
"I don't know, I mean, weird I guess, I don't really think about it much, since I'm not going to be the alpha, and all," I admitted, "Well what's it like to not be royalty, and be a normal average fox?"
"Uhhh cool I guess, I mean I don't spend a lot of time in the village with the other boys, I spend most of my time in the woods or playing Minecraft," he confessed.
"Cool," I replied, "Just wondering, did you tell your parents that you met me or that I'm not a fox?"
Lukas flinched, "uhh, I told my brother and his girlfriend that I met you just not the part that you're not a fox"
"Same," I told him, "I mean, I told my parents that I met you but not the part that you're not a wolf."
"Yeah," Lukas stared at his shoes, "and they want to meet you..." he trailed off. "I mean, only if you want to meet them ... and then maybe come to the village."
"Mine, too," I replied thoughtfully, "but how would we do that?"
"Well, there is a dye that can change your fur and hair color and your eye color. So we could disguise you as a fox, and then you could come to my village and no one would know that you're another species," Lukas explained, "maybe we can find something like that from your home and then do the same with me."
"Awesome," I said, he showed me a bottle, "I'll look for something like this that changes your hair and fur color along with your eye color to look more like a wolf."
"Yep, got to go, see you tomorrow," Lukas said, looking up before jumping up and running back toward his house.
"Bye," I called after him. I looked up wow it's almost dinner time, I better run fast. I ran home as fast as I could.
