Sugawara looked up from his bed, confused. He didn't know why he was hurting right now and it was confusing. He'd managed not to throw up tonight and now he was confused. Not a great mix.
His chest tightened and he started to cry quietly. This didn't feel good. He wanted to be empty but he wanted to sleep too. And he hadn't emptied his bags out yet to so much as change yet. So no sweater.
He stood, realizing he had the next best thing. He opened Daichi's door, sniffling. "Dai…"
"Mm? What's wrong?" Daichi questioned, half asleep.
Sugawara gulped. "I-I can't sleep."
"Mm... Okay." Daichi lifted the blankets. Sugawara climbed under the blankets and pressed his back against Daichi's chest. Daichi put the blankets back down and held him closer. "Your voice is a bit different…"
"S-sorry."
"No, you sound like you're in pain. Where does it hurt?"
"My stomach." He whispered.
"Mkay." Daichi put his forehead on Sugawara's back and eased his hand onto Sugawara's waist. He rubbed gently, still half asleep. This was so strange for Sugawara but he felt better soon enough and closed his eyes.
"Thank you."
"No problem... G'night…"
Sugawara smiled. "Good night Dai."
"Mm." Sugawara laughed quietly. "I'll get you a heating pad in the morning for your stomach."
"Thank you."
"Of course Suga…"
Sugawara fell asleep a moment later, relaxed and warm. Warm. What a laughable thought.
Sugawara couldn't get completely warm anymore. He was always cold. He'd even started layering clothes when he fell asleep. But everything was cold and lonely and really, really painful.
Things get worse before they got better.
He'd be fine if he could just hang on.
Sugawara turned over in his sleep and held onto Daichi's arm, smiling. This was warm enough for him. This was okay.

Daichi turned around and smiled. Sugawara was resting behind him, holding onto Daichi's back. He seemed so calm.
Daichi turned around and lifted Sugawara's arm, slipping his under it. "Suga." Daichi whispered, seeing the smaller male's face twist into discomfort. Daichi let some weight off of him and smiled. "There we go."
A gentle knock on the door sounded.
"Come in."
Asahi and Daichi's mother both peeked into the room. Asahi blushed, not sure if he was welcome. Daichi's mother urged him forward and hurried to the bed. "Psst."
"Yes?"
"Pancakes and eggs or waffles and eggs?"
"Uh… are you asking for me or Suga?"
"I don't caaaare Daichi. Which one?"
"Hang on." Daichi shook Sugawara's shoulder. "Suga?"
"Hmmm?"
"Waffle or pancake."
"Pancake." Sugawara mumbled. He closed his eyes again and sighed. "Shh."
"You heard him." Daichi said, smiling.
His mother laughed quietly. "I'll close the curtains all the way in a moment. He's a sweet boy." She kissed both of their heads and stood. She turned to Asahi and grinned. "You ready?"
