Part 12 - The Ceremonies

It was mid December and the marriage date of Sumedh and Mallika was getting nearer. The preparations were going on for a while now. The marriage was to take place at a temple in a fort which belonged to Sumedh's ancestors followed by a grand reception.

Days rolled by sooner and few days before the wedding there was sangeet and mehendhi function. Sumedh was wearing a white kurta and cool sunglasses and hanging out with Basanth and his friend Arjun. They were having a great time and clicked pictures and had fun. Mallika was dressed in some bright yellow and pink floral skirt. She looked dashing. Her hands were completely been drawn with henna. She insisted on writing Sumedh 's name in a place where no one can easily see.

During the sangeet, Mallika and Sumedh were asked to dance. They just went with the flow and danced energetically to the tune. Even Aai and Sumedh's dad danced to a song. Aai felt really shy and ran away. Basanth and Revati danced to a slower tune as she was pregnant. Everyone had a nice time. They all clicked some fun pictures with their ethnic dresses and cool sunglasses.

Finally the day of their marriage came. Mallika woke up at her room. She showered and was readied up by a squad of people. They had changed her in a wine red colour silk saree and Aai had sent a whole lot of jewels for her to choose from. But Mallika wore her mom's necklace. She wanted to have something of her mom on her big day. She also wore the nose ring which Aai gave her. She looked stunning. As she came out of her room,  her dad was waiting in the living room. He gave her a warm smile and handed her a favourite cup of coffee. Her heart was beginning to become heavy as she knew it would be the last day at her home. She turned around and saw all her favourite things. She even took her small bunny and packed it in her bag. She gave out a small hug to her dad and finished her coffee and left the house.

Aathira and Sumedh's friend Arjun along with few escorts have arrived in three cars to take Mallika and her dad. Looking at them her mood lifted up. She was now looking forward for the wedding.

The drive was about an hour and they reached the temple. There were elephants standing to welcome the guests and all the arrangements looked like a traditional royal marriage. As Mallika came out of the car she was quickly whisked to the room were she would wait until she is called to the mandap. She could hear the sounds outside and Sumedh was texting her whenever possible in between the rituals.

Aathira and Revati bhabhi finally came inside along with few of Mallika's aunts. Mallika was nervous but closed her eyes for a second and exhaled like how Sumedh had taught her. They took her to the mandap. Sumedh was looked extremely handsome in his wedding attire. He looked at Mallika as she entered the mandap and smiled at her. Our Miku's beauty mesmerised everyone. She sat near Sumedh to do the rituals. Miku's dad was called to do the kanyadaan. He held her hands and gave it to Sumedh. Then finally to the sound of wedding bells and trumpets and all musical instruments playing Sumedh was given the mangalsutra to tie on Mallika. Sumedh looked at a second for his Aai. She came close by and nodded happily. He smiled at Mallika and tied the knot. Mallika's eyes were filled with happy tears and flowers and rice were showered on them as blessings.

They both folded their hands towards the guests after the tying the knot. All of the guests felt like they were witnessing the wedding of  Sri Narayan and Devi Lakshmi. Such was the ambience and aura created by the couple.

Mallika Patel has become Mrs. Sumedh Agarwal and it was going to be a new beginning in their life...
