Beep...beep...beep...went the heart rate monitor in Mike's ears as his eyes flickered open, staring up a hospital ceiling and looking around a room similar to the one that he saw Lonnie in. He struggled to sit up, finding it suddenly difficult to push his legs up.

"Will..." He mumbled, reaching out for the boy who wasn't there. The anesthesia still had him a bit dazed, so every movement was a sway and every time he spoke, his jaw dropping was so prevalent that it felt like it would fall to the ground if he opened it any wider.

He heard the door squeak open and turned his head toward it. It took him a few minutes to register who the younger lady tearing up at the sight of him awake was, but he remembered. Nancy. His sister who he didn't leave on good terms with. At least he didn't die so...wait why did they argue? Mike mind was seriously slipping today. He barely remembered why he was even there.

"Where's Will," he asked again, this time to Nancy who responded.

"They won't let him come in," She says while sitting on the side of the bed, staring down at him and trying not to cry. It was a little weird that she kept glancing down him, but Mike could barely keep his eyes open, so it was nothing to question. Maybe she was just in disbelief.

Mike's eyebrows furrowed. "Why not?"

"He got into a fight in the lobby—"

"What? Will Byers? My Will Byers doesn't get into fights..." He said, cutting her off a bit. Sure, even though Will did beat his ass once upon a time, he couldn't do it again. Will was too sweet, and level-headed, and...perfect.

"Troy's here if you wanna see him."

Mike plopped his head down. Why would he want to see the person who ran him over? He had to be dreaming now, passed out in that dark, cold place or in heaven or hell. There's no way Troy would ever give two shits about him enough to come see him.

"He can come in...Nancy..."

Troy emerged from the hallway as soon as he said that, his hand covering his mouth when he walked in and saw him. He sat down in a chair next to Mike and Nancy walked out before the door closed, giving them time to talk. It was silent a first, both of them just staring at each other. Mike noticed the light red marks around his neck and reached out to touch them, Troy tensing up in response.

"Who did that?" He asked, although he already had an idea. His father must've got mad at him for something, got concerned at the fact his son has never had a girlfriend in his life.

"Will. He was scared that you weren't going to be ok and..." Troy gestures towards his neck.

"Is he ok? I miss him...surgery is so lonely..." Mike jumped up suddenly and continued, "Wait, so if this is real, if I can touch you, does that mean I didn't die?"

"No, you're alive." He reassured

"So that also means..."

Mike's eyes widen and he flips off the hospital cover, revealing his missing leg!

"AHHHHH!"

Since their son was crippled, and had expensive hospital bills, Ted and Karen decided to get back together. Karen would make Ted his favorite chicken with extra seasoning every night while he'd have to take care of Mike and make sure that he didn't fall out of his wheelchair. Mike hated that he was the only reason why they were back together almost as much as he hated his new prosthetic leg. He could move it just as if it was his own leg, but the problem was how they looked in clothes and how uncomfortable the metal was on his stub.
