⚠️TW: Mentions of Self Harm⚠️

The Byers Residence | Wed 4:23 PM
Will Byers

Will used to think that being one person was stressful enough. Him trying to handle his emotions safely. Trying to find ways to fit in with his classmates so people wouldn't make assumptions about him. Taking to art and journaling to help cope.

But the addition of two other people who are at each other's throats all the time was much worse. Especially with a thought replaying in his mind, like a broken record player.

Hey, Will. This is Stan. I just wanted to let you know that I feel really shitty about the other day and I let my feelings get the best of me...truth is, I only came down here to see you. However, that business with my parents wasn't a lie, and I'm actually staying a little longer because of it. It would be nice to see you again, but only if you'd have me.

He trailed around his room, his door open into the hallway. His feet getting closer to it every time he passed it, considering Stan's proposal. Biting his nails down to the nubs.

Call me and let me know. Or you could ignore this and I'd never know if you got it or not. Completely up to you.

This was one of those times where he wanted the voices to tell him what to do, but he didn't know how to summon them exactly. Most times they just show up on their own when something bad happens. This isn't bad...but it could be. For his and Mike's relationship.

"Are you guys there?" Will whispers to himself.

He gets no answer. And it almost makes him feel crazy to expect one. But he knows these voices, these people inside his head. Just because he punished them doesn't mean they won't come back.

But since he was still getting no input, he made his own decision. From the voicemail, it sounds like Stan actually feels bad for what he did, and being jealous about something isn't the worst thing in the world. Will still knew he got the tiniest bit triggered whenever Mike would speak to another man. Especially with what it caused him to do.

So, he left his room into the hallway and grabbed the landline on the wall, punching in the number of Stan's hotel room and patiently waiting for him to answer. On the second ring, an overwhelming force takes over his body, spazzing out and smashing the phone back to it spot. Making it shake on the wall, almost ripping it off.

He expected this to be the doing of the mad one, which always seemed to be the stronger voice, but just by the calmness of their scolding, he knew exactly who was talking to him.

Will! Why would you wanna go on a date with him! You have a boyfriend, don't you?

"It's not a date...we're just catching up again. Come on, he's gonna leave Hawkins soon and this might be my only chance to ever see him again."

So you'd rather risk your relationship for a guy in your past life? Will, you're better than this!

"Maybe you're right..."

Will waited for the mad one to come out, but they were still quiet, as their name states, probably still mad about the other day. But even though it felt weird without them, it was oddly much calmer. Like nothing could go wrong with just one person in his head.
