The Prince and I were training on deck. Facing off with Lieutenant Jee and a few other men. The ship changed course, knocking us to the side.
Prince Zuko caught me in his arms, then glared at the command tower, "Someone's changing our course."
We ran into the control room, "What is the meaning of this mutiny? No one told you to change course!"
"Actually, someone did," Iroh was playing Pai Sho, "I assure you, it is a matter of utmost importance, Prince Zuko."
The prince turned to his uncle, "Is it something to do with the Avatar?"
"Even more urgent. It seems, I- I have lost my lotus tile."
"Lotus tile?
"For my Pai Sho game. Most people think the lotus tile insignificant, but it is essential for the unusual strategy that I employ."
The prince was angry, not surprising, "You've changed our course for a stupid lotus tile?"
"See, you, like most people, underestimate it's value. Just give me ten minutes to check the merchants at this port of call. Hopefully, they will have the lotus tile in stock and I can get on with my life," he turned to me, "I'm lucky to have such an understanding nephew."
Smoke filled the room.
I whispered in my teacher's ear, "I don't think understanding is the right word."
We stopped in the market. I followed Iroh though the shops. He just kept buying things. I myself ended up buying a miniature bag that I could attach to my 'belt'.
We met with Prince Zuko, "I've checked all the shops on this pier. Not a lotus tile in the entire marketplace."
The prince yelled out, "It's good to know this trip was a complete waste of time for everyone!"
"Quite the contrary. I always say, the only thing better than finding something you are looking for..." Iroh gestured to the men of the ship, who carried his purchases, "is finding something you weren't looking for at a great bargain!"
"You bought a tsungi horn?"
"For music night on the ship. Now, if we only had some woodwinds," we walked along and set our eyes on a pirate merchant ship, we started browsing it's wears, "Oh, that is handsome! Wouldn't it look magnificent in the galley?"
"We lost the Water Tribe girl and the little bald monk she was traveling with."
Crap.
The prince turned to the Captain of the ship and his lackey, "This monk, did he have an arrow on his head?"
The lackey answered, "Yeah? What's it to you?"
He nodded to me, I answered for him, "I believe you and my prince may have some common interests. We will help you retrieve your scroll, if you help us retrieve the monk traveling with her."
The pirates smirked, "We have a deal young lady."
We sailed down the river, looking for the Avatar.
"Shouldn't we stop to search the woods?"
"We don't need to stop. They stole a waterbending scroll, right?"
The pirate nodded.
"Then they'll be on the water."
"Ugh, ugh, ugh! Shoot! Come on water, work with me here! Okay, what if I just, ow! Stupid scroll!"
I could hear the girl known as Katara nearby. The others heard her too. We stopped on the shore. She was captured in moments.
She was able to release herself from the pirate's grasp, but she was held captive just after by the prince.
